PS 23 standard installation from downloaded files

    Hi,

During my first installation, I have save all the downloaded files that I have to download while running the installer.
I save them in an external hard drive.
Now, I have reformat my laptop, and install a fresh windows 10.
Is it possible to install PS 23, from the downloaded files that I have in my external file? (off course through the valid single installer file).
If it's possible, how to do it ?

    Thanks,

Hi and welcome to this forum.

Yes it's possible, but the installation files and the Pinnacle-Studio_23_Installer.exe must be in the same folder.

Re: Re:PS 23 standard installation from downloaded files

Saby, many thanks for your input in this forum. 33 thousand posts - woow!

I hope you could write one more helping post in my case.

Out of the blue my PS23 stopped to startup. I went through some topics on this good forum and failed to find the solution.
Having downloaded app and original key earlier, I uninstalled PS23 and tried to reinstall it.
Bad for me I cannot activate the installation as I have error window stating that "This installation cannot run by directly launch the MSI package. You must run web installer".
    I use windows 10. Dell XPS15.

What might be reason of this? Should I use new Pinnacle-Studio_23_Installer.exe? Where I can download such file? Would you provide a link to such file please?
How to install PS23 without downloading entire programme again?

The customer service recommanded me to install PS23 by web but I am on the vessel with satellite net only. No chance to download anything bigger than 100MB.
    The installation package is 4.4GB.

I see similar problem with finding the installer in this topic: http://forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/thread/791028.aspx

Would you elaborate what you attempted to reinstall ?

Hi Saby - many thanks for such quick response. You should work for PS customer service for triple wages :)

When I bought PS23 it was downloaded on my hard drive (4.4GB).
I reinstall entire programme a couple hours ago.
Now I am trying to install it using the previously downloaded files with the entire programme using this path: pinnaclestudi23/64bit/studio/pinnaclestudio.

Re: Re:PS 23 standard installation from downloaded files

There is no folder called pinnaclestudi23/64bit/studio/pinnaclestudio, but a folder called pinnaclestudi23/64bit/studio and in this folder a file called PinnacleStudio.msi

Is it this one that you launched and led you to the "This installation cannot run by directly launch the MSI package. You must run web installer" message ?

Currently, I'm paid 0, so even if tripled, it would still be 0.    Big Smile

Re: Re:PS 23 standard installation from downloaded files

    What you may try :

    • make a backup of your installation folder
    • download stub file here :  http://www.pinnaclesys.com/en/products/studio/digital-download/
    • place it into pinnaclestudi23/64bit/
    • run it
    • in the installer window, select Custom instead of Complete
    • there you can select the download location
    • select the location of the already downloaded folder
    • the stub should verify the content of this folder and install from it without new download
What might unfortunately happen : if for example the version of PS23 in the folder is 23.1, the stub, which has since updated to a full installer of 23.2.1, will likely just try to download again.

Re: Re:PS 23 standard installation from downloaded files

    Hi Saby,

I followed the given path but the stub ignores existing files in downloaded folder and tries to download all program.
What might unfortunately happen : if for example the version of PS23 in the folder is 23.1, the stub, which has since updated to a full installer of 23.2.1, will likely just try to download again.
I think this is the case :(

I tried to follow this shortcut too:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boD7XQxvADE

but once the installation is done (from my saved folder) the PS opens with grey window of timeline and nothing can be done on it.

Re: Re:PS 23 standard installation from downloaded files

Sadly the case is continued :(
I removed all PS remains from my c drive.
Downloaded the latest version online with the original key.

and it still does not initiate. There is the same situation as before. The app tries to boot but after 20-30 seconds it shut down itself.

I believe that I have some issue with my windows or got a virus. It cannot be the PS app then.

I would appreciate for any suggestion please.

Re: Re:PS 23 standard installation from downloaded files

    Try this :

    Rename C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_23\Studio\23.0 to C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_23\Studio\23.0.old

    Launch Studio

    saby:

    Ver.23.2.1.297 (64bit)

However I cannot see any content of "Titles" and "Sound Effects". Zero. Nada.
My present location of these folders is: C:\Program Files\Pinnacle
Not sure if it's correct. What about your location of these folders please?

That's strange as other folders (Effects, Transitions) works but cannot find their location.

Re: Re:PS 23 standard installation from downloaded files

No, it can't be C:\Program Files\Pinnacle but depending of your history of installations of Studio it might be C:\Users\Public\Documents\Pinnacle\Studio23\Content

To make sure of it, open Regedit and search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Avid\Studio Content 23. What path do you have in the Content Path key ?

It looks that I have a wrong path: C:\Users\BraCuru\Desktop\
How may I change it please? And what is it the proper path?
Many thanks for your time spend for this case!

    BTW.
I need to update my email to the new one:.......

Like some people here, I know a lot of things about Studio. It's been 21 years that I'm dealing with this software and around 12 years that I'm a moderator here.

Do you have a folder called Content on your desktop ?

Seems that Content is in a classic location.

Do you find some files in Sound Effects sub folder.
