    Studio 23 Ultimate V23.1.1.242 - Camera Flare

Is there any way to position (horziontal/vertical) the 'Camera Flare' effect? Sure would be nice to have this option (similar to positioning a title shape object).

No there isn't. You can only used the fixed settings.

Thanks Tony. I think this setting would be nice to have, for example, sizing down and positioning a Flare at the end of a Wizard Wand (as in a Harry Potter Wand).

I agree, but don't hold your breath on this one. I've been using Red Giant's Knoll Light Factory for all types of lens flairs and you can place them anywhere along with keyframing motion.

It's not "smooth" (each adjustment takes time to register), but it works.

The Red Giant Motion Graphics toolkit came with Pinnacle Studio 17 Ultimate.

Yes, I'm aware of Red Giants Knoll Light Factory and Trapcode Particular. Was interested in doing a lightning bolt effect with Trapcode Particular. Opened a Chat session with Red Giant Tech Support regarding compatibility with Pinnacle Studio 23. The technician's response was 'Red Giants products are only compatible with Adobe'. Bummer.

The Red Giant plugins are 32bit "bridged" to work with 64bit Pinnacle, and they are about 8 years old. They aren't responsive on my computer, but they do work. Particular is such a slug, it's not worth the effort. MBLooks, Knoll, Shine are what I use.

Sadly, most consumer editor users do not support plugin people, so plugin creators go for the pro editors who have no problem spending the money.

Thanks for the clarification. Been using Pinnacle for over a year. So far, I've been able to do most of what I want in my video editing, if not directly, then with workarounds. Lately I've been running into stuff that I can not get to work or find a workaround for such as the camera flare and lightning bolt issues. I guess if you want all the bells and whistles you have to go to a pro editor which means investing a lot of time and money.

Re: Studio 23 Ultimate V23.1.1.242 - Camera Flare

3rd party plugin support was decent in the past. NewBlue FX for one was there, now, the plugins are 7 years old. Boris FX had their title program Graffiti, and with legacy Studio and Avid Liquid, there was Title Deko. Smartsound has been there for well over a decade. NeatVideo noise reduction plugin is still available.

But most consumer editors aren't willing to pay more for a plugin than the cost of the editing program which can be bought under $100USD.

Most people that I know who edit a lot, usually have more than one editor. First, out of curiosity, and also because that editor does things the other doesn't. Right tool for the right job. Pinnacle has a lot of automation built in. Pro editors, you usually are the one that does the automation. Example... try doing some of the Montage themes in a pro editor. And the Split Screen Editor is really nice.

Depending on his seniority at Red Giant he may really think that it is true.
