Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

    Attachment: capture.png

I have Studio Ultimate 23.1.1.242 installed. When I export to several formats I end up with the A/V sync issue. it seems to be with longer projects especially with clips that are longer in the project. I did find that patch https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037401834-Pinnacle-Studio-23-Export-On-AMD-Is-Slow-Motion-Or-Has-Frozen-Frames but it did not seem to help. Although when I run it it seems to run then close right away. Might not work with the current version. I have an AMD cpu with a radeon card. I did switch the hardware acceleration to none from AMD and clear the render files. Still the same issue. Tried mpeg2 dvd compatible and h265 good quality. The source is from cannon g60 camera in 1080p.

    Any other thoughts?

I did notice that the ram slowly would creep up during the longer export. The added AMD support is defiantly a welcomed addition.

    Cheers

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

See my computer specs below. No problems exporting 4K 25, 50P or 1080 50P from Panasonic cameras listed below. But then, most of my videos are short, under 15 minutes.

How long are your videos? Are your drivers up to date? At what point in time does the video go out of sync?

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

The video is about 52min with one clip in the middle that is 26min. it is a lecture so not a lot of action and cuts. It seems to be in sync for the first 1/4 then slowly starts to drift. At the end it is about 2-3 second off.

I have Windows 64 build 1903, radeon drivers 19.11.3 however I am kicking it old school on the specs AMD FX-8 core with radeon rx 560 graphics amd 16gb ram. Actually for Studio this is not that bad.

Source is 1080p at 29.97 export is NTSC dvd compatiable and tried a few h264 formats. I am waiting for the h265 render to finish to see if that has the same issue.

The other thing is for some reason after the export complete popup appears and I close it. there is a .tmp file that is also there with the same name. It is 0 bytes. I cant delete it until i close studio. when studio closes it magically becomes 90% of the other file size. If i drop it in to vlc player it has video and sound like the other one.

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

When you export, I am guessing you also check mark "same as timeline".

Rename the project and save it. Cut it in half and export normally. Is there a sync issue?

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

I have tried same as source and changing the project. I also have created a new project and placed 1 25 min clip and tried a different 20 min clip with no effects or anything. Then exported in a few different formats. I have used Windows media and VLC to play them. They have the sync issue in both clips and players. I have noticed that if the export is larger usually a few GB then it will leave the .tmp file. These are the standard 1080 AVHC NTSC .mts source files. I can play the source in the players and there is no sync issues. I am going to play a bit and grab a few screens to upload.

Bolter44 one last thing. Is there a way to upload that problematic 20 minute clip to the cloud so I can try it on my computer?

That makes sense since I have tried 2 separate videos from the same camera. It is from an older Canon HF600 and makes AVCHD 1080@PF30 MTS files.  As another test I grabbed MP4 files from the SL-2 at 1080p. One 30p and the other 60p. They both work fine. So I think this may be the issue since I am on 23.1.1.242 and have that AMD patch in place.

    Here is a setup screen.

Sounds like a bug in 23. I will install the older 22 version and update the thread. If it does then I can upload it to my OneDrive and send you a link in PM.

One way to know if it's a bug is if it is repeatable on different computer builds.

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

After installing studio 22 the project and clip render fine without any audio sync problems.Tried exporting in DVD and h264AVC.  It seems to be studio 23 at least on my system that has the issue.

TonyP - I sent you a PM file link to try.

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

Here are my findings on the computer spec'ed below. I did nothing with the original file except place it on the timeline. Using PS23 Ultimate.

    ORIGINAL FILE

    Size: 3.88GB

    Timeline Settings: 1920x1080, 29.91 (30P) NTSC

Export Settings:  Same As Timeline, Peak Bitrate 23MBit/s

Export Time:  6 minutes 15 seconds. GPU usage in the upper 90% range. CPU usage 20%

    Exported File Size:  3.65GB

Result: Playing back exported video with both Windows Media Player and VLC, experienced OOS (Out Of Sync) issues from 3 minutes onward with the exported video. Making the exported video not usable.

    HANDBRAKE CONVERTED VIDEO

    HANDBRAKE SETTINGS: Video Tab

        Video Codec: H.264

        Frame Rate: 29.97, CONSTANT

        Constant Quality:  22

        Converted File Size:   1.03GB

Convert Time:  17:30, 41FPS average at the end of converting.

Nothing else was adjusted in Handbrake

Pinnacle Studio 23 Ultimate with Handbrake Converted File

    Timeline Settings: As as above

Export Settings: Same As Timeline, Peak Bitrate 6Mbit/s

Export Time:  12 minutes 30 seconds. GPU usage in the upper 68% range. CPU usage 18%

    Exported File Size:  0.97GB

Result: Exported file played back correctly with no OOS issues.

Additional notes: Playing back the original file in WMP, there is no audio on my computer. Playing it back in VLC, audio was ok. Also, noted (looking on a 27" 4K monitor),  the blue lit wall in the background was "cleaner" after converting in Handbrake, giving the finished product less "background noise" that was noticeable on my monitor. If I have forgotten anything else, I will add it in the reply.

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

I assume the "original file" test was in PS 23?

Interesting that windows media player doesn't play the audio from the original clip.  Some additional decoding/encoding must be being performed in ps23, causing the sync issue .

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

    Everything done in PS23

Also, Setup>Export and Preview>Quality set to BEST.

As for the possible difference. The Exported original file and the Handbrake Exported file show in MediaInfo Frame Rate Mode: Constant.  The only thing I can think of is that the Original file frame rate is not Constant frame rate, but variable?.

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

I've run into this in the past with Insta360 Studio created files.  Even as far back as PS19.  I don't think the Insta360 is a PS problem.  I think there is some problem with the keyframes on the audio on some of these devices.  The audio seems to play fine if played from the start, but if you start jumping around on the clip, the audio either doesn't play, or it is out of sync.

I think the best workaround is to run the clip from the problem camera through Handbrake or something to add audio sync.

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

Tested here on Gigabyte BRIX ultra-small PC (Intel graphics only, Studio 23 hardware acceleration = Intel); I observed the same "out of sync" on export (audio approx. 6 seconds ahead of video by the end of the exported file). Interestingly, on this PC, Windows Media Player does play the source file OK with sound.

So seemingly not an issue with the AMD hardware support, but due to Studio mishandling the audio of the original .MTS file?

    Regards,
    Richard

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

The the example clip is an unaltered Canon Vixia HF-R600 file - many years old but using the NTSC AVCHD BD standard. I have many of these and until now they have not been an issue. My Windows 10 builtin player always had audio for these I just prefer VLC. Here is the link to the camera page

    https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/details/camcorders/consumer/vixia/vixia-hf-r600/vixia-hf-r600

    Movies:
    1. AVCHD format, compatible with AVCHD Ver. 2.0
    Video: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264,
    Audio: Dolby Digital 2ch2.

    MP4 format
    Video: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264,
    Audio: MPEG-4 AAC-LC (2ch)

    Options for AVCHD movies
60 fields per second, interlaced. Standard frame rate of analog NTSC TV signals.
Shooting at 30 frames per second, progressive*.
Use this frame rate to easily edit your AVCHD movies, for example, to post them on the Web.
    *Recorded as 60i.

These older video files and my projects from studio 19+ have worked fine until v23.

I am using v22 to finish up on these and will see what the next patch does.

The video files from my Cannon SL-2 and G60 workfine in v23. They are recorded in1080@60p and 4k@30p. These are strictly MP4 Codec ID : mp42 (mp42/avc1/CAEP)  at 60mbs and 100mbs.

Re: Also experiencing the audo export sync issue.

I'm using PS 23 Ultimate on Windows 10 1909 trying to make DVDs mostly from recorded TV.   I now have a stack of discs that are only good as drinks coasters as the sync problem makes tham unusable.   I have perfect sync on the PS timeline, it just gets shifted in the export processing.  I'll have to stop using PS until this is fixed, do you have any idea when a patch will be available?     I think I recall a similar problem several versions ago that got a special patch.

yo también tengo problemas de sincronización de video y audio al exportar a archivo h264/AVC con Studio 23, el mismo proyecto exportado con Studio 22 sale perfectamente sincronizado.

Gracias Javier, interesting you have the same problem.   Having just paid for the upgrade to 23 I would be very annoyed to have to take the time to reinstall 22, so I'll see if there is any response on patching before doing that.
