    Audio Monitoring on Import

I have upgraded from Pinnacle 9 to 22.  (Big difference.  Not sure all of it was for the better.)  One of the features on version 9 was an audio slider that could adjust how loud the sound was coming in when I did an import from my Hi8 video camera using the Movie Box device.  If my audio source was coming in up in the yellow or red I could move the slider down.  I have done imports on version 22 using the Dazzle device and I see an audio monitor with many of my audio clips up in the yellow range, but I don't see how to adjust it to bring it back down to the green.  I'm on a Dell PC running Windows 10.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Rick - does you import window not have this slider (see below?) it's there for my USB 510 but I don't have a Dazzle to test.

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I was out of town.

Unfortunately, I do not have that 6th slider.  I just have 5 - Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Hue and Saturation.

    Thanks.

Any idea why I am not seeing the audio slider in my version of Pinnacle 22?

I wonder if it is a Dazzle thing. Yellow is OK, isn't it? Or are you hearing distortion?

If it's not going into the red, perhaps Dazzle has an automatic level control.

I don't have the slider too with my Dazzle, whatever the version of Studio used.

No, it's always in the yellow, but it hasn't hit the red, so I guess it's OK.  I just don't understand why an input from Dazzle would not have the audio slider.  It's a USB input and I think other USB inputs from other devices will have it.

It's not a matter of USB.

As I said, if the Dazzle has an automatic level control then they might deem a slider unnecessary. Lot of devices (such as cameras) have them.

    Re: Audio Monitoring on Import

It would be nice if someone from Corel/Pinnacle could find out if the Dazzle does have an automatic level control built in.  That way I can put this behind me.  If it is automatic, I'm surprised it goes so high into the yellow, but I guess if I'm not hearing distortion it probably doesn't matter.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.  I never thought of that.

I'm going to temporarily use my Movie Box device which I got with version 9 and see if the audio slider appears in 22 like it did on version 9.

    Re: Audio Monitoring on Import

Yellow is between -12 and -3dB. That's normal. If you have an audio source with a variable output and alter the level of that it would soon become apparent if the Dazzle has auto-gain. There is no reason for them to leave out the slider if it doesn't.

I've forwarded your question to Corel.
