reconnecting video segments - eliminating unwanted cuts

I want to "heal" unwanted cuts between contiguous video. In PS15 you would just highlight the various segments,  (and as long as they were contiguous) right click and choose "COMBINE", and the unwanted cuts were eliminated.

Supposedly the proper thing to do in PS19 is to drag the right edge of the 1st clip to the right in order to make it overwrite the 2nd clip

This does not work for me.

Instead what happens is that the last frame of the left clip becomes a freeze frame that gets extended to the right.

Is there a simpler reliable way to do this ??

Why doesn't Studio have the obvious and simple "COMBINE" function ?

They can't be contiguous parts of video if you get pink freezed frame when dragging right hand edge of the left clip to the right.

Re: Re:reconnecting video segments - eliminating unwanted cuts

I just drag the right clip down to a blank track, then grab the right end of the left clip and drag it out to the length of the right end of the right clip.  Then I just delete the right clip from the track below.  Good as new.  Combine could/would just cause problems.  No reason for it.  The original uncut clip is already there.

they ARE uninterrupted contiguous split clips --

Pulling the right side of any of them ONLY generates a pink freeze frame

If the right side of the clip turns pink, then that clip was not split/cut at that point.

You manually did the splits on a large clip in the timeline or are they scenes detected in the library ?

Re: Re:reconnecting video segments - eliminating unwanted cuts

yes the problem occurs in video that was content detected/divided into "filmstrips".

Stretching any "filmstrip" segment gets only a pink freeze frame.

When an original unsegmented source video is stretched, it acts as you describe.

Apparently the glitch originates in how the segmented "filmstrip" video has been encoded.

Implementing the right click "COMBINE" command would solve this.

Hopefully you can ask that this be addressed in the next release and patch.

If they are separate clips in the library, the combine would have to be done there, not on the timeline.  The timeline can't manipulate the library.

I doubt they will provide development budget and time to improve an old feature used by a minority of users. Mostly only people with tape based camera are expected to use scenes.

I've explained how to fix this HERE

The Library has a way of recombining scenes already

I've never used it, but I knew it would have to be in the library.
