1834 Log House - one of the oldest in Indiana

I'd like your opinions about this trailer. Assuming that the video itself would seem interesting to you in the first place, am I giving too much of the story away? At 3 minutes, is the trailer too long? Anything else? I can post the finished story for this group which may help you answer my questions. It is 20 minutes long, and it has a lot of what I would consider very interesting stories within it. Trailers are just the hardest thing for many of us to do, so I welcome your input.

    Thank you!

    Hi Larry,

I've had the chance to watch the entire movie recently. I know it's a difficult task, but I think you should shorten this trailer a little bit more.

Give away the part where the construction process is explained (notched logs, fire place, bricks ...) for example.

BTW, nice idea to uses Eric's music. He is a member of this forum.

Thank you, Yann. I believe you are correct... it needs to be shorter.  For your suggestion above, do you mean to leave that section in the trailer or take it out?

Thank you, Yann, for your tip on making the trailer shorter! It is at 2 min 30 sec now, and it feels "right". The link to the trailer is the same, but here it is again.

Also, Eric Matyas at http://www.soundimage.org/ has some great music for all of us to use in our projects royalty free. A donation is appropriate for his hard work. He creates quality music that you will be able to use in just about any project, and he is a member of this forum.

1834 Log House - one of the oldest in Indiana

To finish up my goal for this thread, here is the two-and-a-half minute trailer that is supposed to be engaging and attract the viewer to want to see more.

    Trailer: https://vimeo.com/316334972

And here is the video product that the trailer is supposed to represent: https://vimeo.com/319640784/8af52bd048

Hopefully, it has done its job. Thanks to all of you for your comments and suggestions.

Thank you, Tony. This is my neighbor and his house. What is really interesting is that I think there is no one else in the county who knows about this. In fact, even my neighbor did not know much of the history of the house (and its owners) before they purchased it. Interesting, and valuable, stories are so easily forgotten in only 3 generations. My job is to find them and preserve them as best I can. Luckily, it is all fun for me!
