    23.976 revisited

    Hi,

I am currently using Pinnacle Studio 16.1 and find the only way to export at 23.976 fps is using DivX Plus HD. Have they added any more export options at this frame rate in the current version? If not, is the DivX option still there?

     Thanks for any assistance!

    Best  regards,

    Dan

    Hi,

Is 24 fps ok for you ?

    Hi Saby,

Unfortunately, videos at 24fps absolute will eventually develop audio sync issues. 24fps is great for 16mm film but not so much for video. DivX works fine but I was wondering if there were new options. Is DivX still there? Thanks again!

That's the framerate of most Hollywood movies, you know.

No new options. DivX HD is no longer available in PS22.

ISTR that in most cases, if you choose "24fps" as Studio's frame rate, you will actually get 23.976 (not 24.000). Have a look with MediaInfo, you might be pleasantly suprised - even with an MP4 output from PS16...

    Re: Re:23.976 revisited

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for the tip. I tired a couple of formats that MediaInfo reported as being exact 24.00 but I will try and see if there is at least one that exports at 23.976, especially now that DivX is no longer supported. Thanks again!

    Re: Re:23.976 revisited

I had a further look and found that my general comment about "most 24fps exports coming out at 23.975" appears to be wrong (only seems to work for later versions of Studio and not to 16):

    • PS16 doesn't appear to offer any frame rate setting for custom MP4 output (output frame rate follows the timeline setting). But it does allow frame rate setting for transport stream (MTS) - however setting "24" does give 24.000fps, not 23.976.
    • PS19 and 22 give something a little strange for MP4 "24fps" export (output is labelled as 24.000fps but with an "original frame rate" labelled as 23.976), and for transport stream (MTS) "24fps" export does seem to come out at 23.976fps

So looks like PS16 can't do it... Sad

    Regards,
    Richard

    Re: Re:23.976 revisited

    Hi Richard,

Actually, that should be "happy face" since that is precisely the information and answer I was hoping for! Although I can create a 23.976 file using DivX HD in Studio 16.1 my desire to upgrade to version 22 was dependent on whether there was still any way to properly output such a file. You have just confirmed that it is fact possible. Thanks again!

    Best regards,

    Dan
