    Cannot create 3D Blu-ray disc.

    Attachment: 3D Disc.jpg

I have just spent some considerable time editing some 3D video footage to produce a 3D Blu-ray disc.

However, having let Studio Ultimate 18.6 spend several hours creting a disc that is supposed to only play for half an hour, I discover that as soon as I try to play the disk that it will only play as a normal 2D disc.  I set the disc export up as a Blu-ray disc and the 3D as 'Multistream'.  AIUI, this should produce a full HD 3D disc - but it doesn't.  It only produces a normal 2D disc.  What should I have done to make the disc 3D?

The source files are multistream 3D with Dolby 5.1 sound.

Re: Cannot create 3D Blu-ray disc.

saby has already linked the previous discussion on this.  Basically, it is a bug as Studio does not correctly render the 3D disc.  The disc has to specifically tell the 3D player to play the video in 3D.  If it is not told to do this, it plays in 2D (as you have discovered).  Studio is not adding the instruction to the disc.

There is an (admittedly not very satisfactory) workaround.   That is: to create your 3D movie as a side-by-side video.  Now when you play it, the player again plays it as a 2D video, but now you get the two half width images side-by-side.  Nearly all 3D players and televisions will allow you to tell them to play this format 3D video in 3D.

    Hello Ians
    I agree with you.
But what one looks for these compatibility 2D - 3D
So multistream file readable 2D reader with a 2D or 3D with a 3D players and 3D TV.

    Best regards

Re: Cannot create 3D Blu-ray disc.

    Thank you all for responses.

The features of Studio 18 Ultimate specifically state "Stereoscopic 3D import, editing and export" (my emphasis).  This means that Pinnacle have claimed that their product as has a feature that it does not possess  Since I bought this product within the UK it also means that Pinnacle have commited an offence under Section 1 of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968.

I note that the web site that sold the software does not have a simple method of requesting a refund of money for a product that does not deliver what was promissed.  This is not a problem because I paid using a credit card, and under English law (Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the credit card company must reverse the payment (they also offer a fraud guarantee and selling something that does not do what it claims to do is fraud).

AW: Cannot create 3D Blu-ray disc.

    Hello MWilson

I have Studio 19U since one week with the latest patch installed and I'm faced with the same problem.

My footage comes from Sony HDR-TD30 and is recogniced as 3D. I can export 3D Anaglyph as well as

    3D side-by-side, but Exporting a multistream 3D ends up with a Blu-ray disk, that replays only 2D.

I have this problem since Feb. 2014 with all versions of Studio 17U and this bug seems to be unsolved

up to now. My last successful  exported multistream Blu-ray was from Jan. 2014.

This is an open issue with Corel support.

Hello. It's unsolved to now. But I have a trick. You must export projec like a AVCHD2 disk. After this use  f.ex. Nero and just write BDMV folder to Blu ray disk. You have full hd 3d disk (also with 3d menus).

Re: AW: Cannot create 3D Blu-ray disc.

    Hi! Pinnacle 19 Ultimate.

Use  1. Disk - 2. AVCHD2 multistream - create size SD card to 32GB (you will not use it:)) -  3. In Advanced make changes to make a file about 21 GB max size. 4. Create image 6. Burn BDMV folder using nero and you have a 3d bluray disk

Re: AW: Cannot create 3D Blu-ray disc.

I just came back to find the above advice and decided to give it a try.

First, I tried creating a quick 2 minute 3D video just to test it out. Studio refuses to render the video. The first 25% of the job (creating the frames) takes about 5 minutes or so.  The second 25% (copying the image to the output file) which normally takes a few moments takes over an hour after which the process halts at the 50% point and will not proceed further.

I tried a shorter video (1 minute) which renders completely at the normal expected speed. However, the output disk still does not flag to the player that it is a 3D disk and only plays in 2D. So what have I missed?

Experimentation shows that Studio (19) will repeatedly not render any AVCHD2 format video that is longer than approximately 90 seconds.
