What Windows Operating System are you using?

With Win10 being offered for "free", I am curious as to which version of Windows are other Pinnacle users running.

    I'm still running Win7 Pro 64bit.

What Windows Operating System are you using ?

    • XP (3.7%)
    • Vista (0%)

    Tony,

I've edited your post and added a poll.

It's better like that, no ?  Wink

Re: What Windows Operating System are you using?

For the older Pinnacle Studio programs I still use Windows XP.

For the newer versions of Studio I use Windows 7 (32 bit) and sometimes (64 bit).

Windows 10 is still buggy and have not used it too much to edit with it. I will wait after summer 2016 to see if any good updates have been made to the Windows 10 OS (32 bits).

Win 7 Home Premium on 3 systems.

For one system I have several easy swapable external drives available that have Win 8 and Win 10 (user preview or whatever that was called during it's beta test fase) on board. I did use 8 and 10 for quite some time on a test sytem to gain some experience with 'm. The tests are long history now, I still have the drives on the shelf but didn't use them for many, many months.

Re: What Windows Operating System are you using?

Using Windows 10 64 bits on 3 systems here (two running Home, one running Pro). Two are upgrades from earlier Windows 7/8.1, one is a new build with a clean-install of Windows 10 Home (new licence, not an upgrade from an earlier qualifying OS)

PS12U, 14U, Avid Studio, PS16U, PS18U 64 bit, PS19U 64 bit all appear to work OK in Windows 10; though Avid Studio needs a workaround to make it run (I kept it installed in order to be able to do comparitive tests, help with bug-hunting etc.).

    Regards,
    Richard

Re: What Windows Operating System are you using?

99 views and only 13 votes. I wonder if people understand this is a poll to see what OS they are using. Maybe so aren't using any OS?

Perhaps they see it as I did when I first saw it. I did not know what to do and how to vote first. Then when I logged in I saw that I could vote. Maybe saying that they need to log in first to vote? If you are not logged in, you only see the results.

Reading a forum without being logged in is a strange habit, IMHO.

Not at all if you only want to know what is happening. I do it all the time. Just thought that letting people know that thy have to be logged in, may give more votes.

There are always far more people reading the forums as Guests than logged in:

I suspect them to be people who never registered. Therefore they can't be active in the forum : can't post or vote.

Thanks for the tip. I usually don't log in unless I want to post.

as you can see by the post that follows yours, this isn't always the case. If you haven't checked the box to automatically log you in then you will appear as a guest even if you are registered.

So, when setting up a poll it's probably worth letting people know that they need to log in to vote.

I'm really not following this. People like Bob clearly don't have the "log me in automatically" checkbox ticked. perhaps deliberately so that they don't appear "online". or perhaps for other reasons. So even regular posters may appear as guests. How this tallies with "Reading a forum without being logged in is a strange habit, IMHO." is a good example of what IMHO means Stick out tongue

Re: What Windows Operating System are you using?

Don't try to bring me in the wrong direction. I won't follow you.   Stick out tongue  I'm not discussing that guests are only people who never registered.

I find astonishing that regular members like Jerome (not Bob), who knows that if he wants to post must be logged in, are surprised to have to do the same to participate a poll. It seems to me obvious that it's the same.

If you are agreeing with me, what's with all this "Sticks out tongue" rudeness then?

You won't make me believe that you don't no that "sticking out tongue" have various meanings depending on culture and context. And the only meaning you took is rudness ...

That's definitely not what I had in mind when I wrote my posts.

Broken Heart <= this smiley doesn't mean that I want to kill you by cutting your heart with a knife. It means that I'm sad/sorry.

Like this one doesn't mean that I'm picking up Tony.

Re: What Windows Operating System are you using?

. . .  ahhh, so much lost in translation.  Even a simple preposition can totally change the meaning.  Picking "up" Tony = Left HugRight Hug.  Picking "on" Tony = Stick out tongue.  IMHO, of course.  Angel

No Greg. This time nothing was lost. I actually wrote "picking up" having in mind "making advances".

Thanks Yann, but that's the only meaning I'm aware of - a more childish version of "Up Yours" if you like.

Perhaps you might bear it in mind when posting to UK forum members. Perhaps that's why Colour (Peter Woods) was always on your case Wink

    Thanks for the advice.

Next time I'll post it like that :

    Stick out tongue

Click the smiley for an "explanation inside".

Re: What Windows Operating System are you using?

Yes it has the same meaning here in Sweden too, but this tongue is not sticking out straight and tight, as we used to do when we were kids. This tongue is flat and coming out to the side. Seams more friendly.

However, now we are far from the subject in trying to help people in assisting filling in the polling of OP systems used and if using multi cameras.

I should probably not have commenting on this, but could not help myself.

Re: What Windows Operating System are you using?

Still looks like Win7 is the predominate operating system.

I do plan on going Win10 (after turning off everything that data mines) in the future. Probably just buy the OS and have a dual boot system.
