    Windows xp and windows 8

I keep getting regular emails promoting an upgrade from xp to windows 8. I have always found the xp platform stable for Liquid Edition 7.2 but with the threat of no support for xp from April next year wonder if it us time to switch away from xp and if so the consequences for using the same LE features.

i don't want to switch and find I am unable to continue using all my plug ins etc

You can continue using Windows XP but there won't be anymore updates or support for it after April of 2014. If your computer is capable to upgrade you can go to either Windows 7 or Windows 8, but I am not completely sure if Liquid Edition may or may not work with that OS. If your computer can be upgraded you can partition your hard drive so you can have both OS in your computer and just switch OS when you need to work on a project using Liquid Edition. Pinnacle Studio 11 up to Studio 15, Avid Studio and Pinnacle Studio 16 and 17 are all compatible with Windows 7 and believe Studio 14 and 15 along with 16 and 17 are all compatible with Windows 8 and/or 8.1.

Re: Windows xp and windows 8

There are issues with running Liquid in Win 7. I don't know anyone who has tried it in Win 8 but I suspect there will be even more issues. Liquid was only designed to run under XP.

Even if Microsoft does not support XP, it will not stop working so there is actually no problem with continuing to use it to run Liquid.

Also, be aware, it may not be possible to install Liquid on a different machine as Corel/Pinnacle no longer give any support for Liquid. Others here have had problem trying to generate a new activation key to match changed machine ID's. Whether that was their error or the fact that it can no longer be done, I am not sure.  I am not even sure if the activation server is still working. It is past the legal time frame for Pinnacle to support Liquid. All links to updates have been pulled. It would be better to consider an alternate NLE if you are going to move to a newer OS.

It would be wise to clone your hardrive and to keep it in reserve. Sadly, Liquid's day is over.

I'm using Liquid 7 under Windows 8.1 on a 64 bit OS with no  problems other than having to reset the DVD driver as has already been discussed.

Re: Windows xp and windows 8

I did try Liquid and Windows 8.1 recently and the advanced colour corrector problem I had with Windows 8 and Windows 7 did not happen - i.e. it worked.

I am not really using Liquid much but was re-visiting an old project and although the CC worked I was not 100% some of the other parts were working properly - in particular the classic 2D effects seemed to be rendering incorrectly.
