    What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

Any word on a PS 17 any time soon?    Or at least an upcoming patch. Do you think Corel will keep the pinnacle name or dissolve it into their line of nles?

Your money may be burning a hole in your pocket but there are better ways than giving it to Pinnacle

Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

you must have gotten an email. I never get any even though I am registered. I get tons of Corel emails though.

The sale is good until Aug 13th. Hmmm..... Corel has huge sale on their current products just before the next release. Could this be the business model for Pinnacle now? One can only hope.....

Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

Not seeing this offer on the american site.

Hopefully the fact that staff are still being employed to look at and write code means something --

Despite my well known cynicism, my hunch is that it more likely means an inventory write down/clearance in advance of a new release...

The alternative is crates of garbage being trucked to landfill pits in the pitiless deserts of Arizona ...

No such offer for Frenchies too.

A well done dummy offer made by David using Photoshop or an offer dedicated to Isle of Wight ? Wink

BARYE, pay attention, your legendary pessimism seems to crumble a little bit. Beer

Re: AW: Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

Been getting a LOT of emails the last 2 weeks here in Canada... $39.99 for 16U.  This has always been the precursor to the next version being released - Corel trying to get as many NEW customers or those with older version to upgrade and then hit 'em with the next version... I figure the end of August we`ll see it

Re: AW: Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

Different management, different sales policy. So you can't draw any conclusions IMHO. Interesting that opinions vary from"the end of the product" to "new version very soon". Personally, I think they are just trying to generate some income during the slack summer season. If there were to be a new version very soon it will be a short product cycle - S16 isn't a year old yet.

Re: AW: Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

I know it's only been a year but 16U had so many issues they even issued a fairly large patch, a patch which brought out even more issues (with me anyway)... never did that with 14 or 15.  Having said that, Studio 16 was totally redesigned and a lot different that Pinnacles versions.  In order to predict future behaviors all one has to do is look at past behaviours.  This same method is used world-wide covering all spectrums of 'upgradeable' retail products - even cars. When the 2014 models are about to hit the lot in numbers the '13 vehicles are all on sale.I remember when Digital River used to be the distributor of the newer Pinnacle versions - I remember it taking almost 2 months to have Studio 11 shipped AFTER I bought it.  Now it's all downloadable so they're just waiting to clear the loading bay of all the crates of Studio 16... even offering the green screen now (the email I got this morning) - this sale ends in 3 days...

This particular industry is evolving faster than any of us could realize me-thinks.

    My 2 cents...

Re: AW: Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

Studios 14 and 15 never had a patch but they did have some serious bugs. On the other hand, an effort is being made by Pinnacle to weed out the bugs in S16, some of which are only small but irritating nontheless.

But I do have some inside information but of course cannot tell you the source. Not much was obtained (she was afraid of being sacked if she served cold tea) but there were hints of what is to come. There is a new special effect which blurs text so it does not take your attention away too much from the video. The Blu-ray issues have been solved by getting 25GB onto a CD-ROM. However some may not like the resulting 320x160 resolution. Best of all is the inclusion of multicam and 4k - but these can only be used with 3D video.

With 4K and 3D HD taking up all the that storage space, full support for m-disc for video players are also supported, so that all of are movies will out last us.

Re: AW: Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

A lot of customers, mainly from Europe, are receiving from Pinnacle/Corel after product registration a kind of blank email with only a letter in its body. Often this letter is a G.

It's a bug already reported to Pinnacle who encountered some difficulties before they managed to reproduce it.

That's something we have been discussing a lot of times in the forum.

Let's see.... I lived in the States and now moved to Europe. I didn't get email in the States or here in Europe.... what's the matter... Pinnacle doesn't like me? Oh, I get tons of Corel emails.... and yes, registered with Pinnacle.

    What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

I had a look at my Corel account and found a list that contains 29 registered Pinnacle/Avid products. The oldest one being Studio 10 which was registered in December 2006.

The older ones (I started with version 1.06 supplied with DC10+ card in 2001) are no longer there.

The list also contains six Corel products.

I quite frequently get email offers from Corel but I never ever got/get one from Pinnacle.

I then went to My Pinnacle account and guess what, I can't find any registered products list.

Has there ever been a list there? How comes Corel knows my registerd products while Pinnacle doesn't.

Could this be the reason they don't send me those email offers?

Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

I think I had to supply Pinnacle Studio with an email address when I bought and registered v. 8.12 (in order to get my free plugin (something-glow?).... ever since then (2004?) I've been getting regular "On Sale Now" emails...
