    Studio 12 shutting down

My friend uses Pinnacle Studio 12 and you are in the program, it can bring up the capture screen, menu screen, transitions, Make Movie and everything EXCEPT the pictures.  As soon as you select the camera icon to bring up photos, or you use the menu and go to photo album, the program shuts down and goes into not responding.  It was working fine earlier in the day then suddenly you can no longer bring photos into a movie.  Should I uninstall and re-install the program?  I have done a disc scan in case there was an error in a sector on the hard drive but it was fine.

I am hoping someone can help.  If all else fails I have a version of Pinnacle 14 that I never used, but I am not sure if it will work with Vista.

    Welcome to the ForumSmile

Should I uninstall and re-install the program?

    Try a Repair Install First.

    1) If you have S12 Program Disk, insert & select Install, then the Repair option in the following Pop-up after the initial Installer Progress bar.

    2) If you have S12 Program Download, Run the Setup EXE File & then as above.

Update  to S12.1 in both cases.

    S14 will Run on Vista.

Thanks do know what web site has the update to 12.1.  Pinnacle doesn't support that version anymore.

They don't provide technical support. However they should still provide all of Pinnacle Studio Versions Updates Downloads, which has been the case since S8, until Corel acquired Pinnacle from Avid.

S12.1 Update is on their current Downloads page (See Screenshot 1),

However, clicking on the S12.1 Update Link, returns the message in Screenshot 2.

I can't remember what s12.1 Update fixed (Probably 5:1 Surround Sound when Editing AVCHD, amongst others), however I'm Editing OK with just S12.0, here. But I only use S12 for another Program I use, Post Production.

It may be just a matter of a broken Update Link. Unfortunately there is very little meaningful communication with Corel to get it fixed, if that's the case.

Just do a Repair Install, anyway.

BTW - You need to check your S12 Version, since S12.1 was also a Released Version as well as an Update to S12.0.

Peter - this is why I've hosted the update at the link given above by Ingolf (who can't shake off the badge, by the looks of things Wink )
