Hd Video MTS files and liquid 7

Just bought a new HD camcorder JVC GZ-E205. I have up-loaded the contents to the computer and they are listed in windows explorer as MTS files.

How do I get Liquid 7 to work with this content?

do I need to convert them, if so what to convert them to?

    Cheers

    Colin.

You need to convert them as Liquid does not support AVCHD video. Try the free Any Video Converter and try converting to mpeg2 and see how they look.

Re: Hd Video MTS files and liquid 7

Thanks LewS. I have now downloaded the converter you mention and will give it a go.

I have tried another free trial converter to convert them to what it called best quality MPEG

but they just crashed Liquid when importing them, so I tried MPEG 4 and that seemed to work ok, I was tempted to

buy a license for that converter, but not now. Thanks for that.

next question is how do I output the final DVD in HD?

    Regards

    Colin.

    Colin,

Please don't keep us in suspense.  What was the answer that you found by yourself?

Re: Hd Video MTS files and liquid 7

    Hi again.

I have used the free converter as suggested and I find that the image is a bit juddery.

I shot a trial scene of an oil supply vessel returning into Aberdeen harbour, I set the camera on a tripod and let the ship enter the shot from the right and exit on the left without moving the camera at all. The passage of the ship is flawless on the original files, but defiantly not smooth in the converted files, the image can also be a bit pixelated in places. I was expecting a bit of quality loss but not as much as this. What do others do to work with HD in Liquid. Is there a better converter?

    Cheers

    Colin.

Did you set the parameters in the converter to give the best quality? Also, check the field order by right clicking on the clip and going to properties in Liquid. You might want to change it from the current setting and see if that helps.

I have used AnyVideoConverter numerous times, but have not noticed any "juddering" in moving video.  As Lew suggests, check your Liquid settings and also try different outputs (even non-HD) in the converter settings to see what differences that can make.

While more money, Edius 6.5 is on sale for $265 at videoguys.com, it is $279 with 5% off and free shipping. Plus you will get free on demand access. This would complement your new camera and liquid. I am now using it, liquid 7 and the latest Pinnacle Studio for authoring my blue rays.

Thank you all for your input, it is amazing what can happen if you set things up right to begin with.

I never noticed the video options tab at the bottom of the screen, the answer was in there, The frame rate was indeed

incorrect but not any longer. it now works a treat.

Thanks again for putting up with me.

    Regards

    Colin.
