    Faulty break out box

Other than the bob which came with LE is there any other box - pinnacle or other- that will be recognised by EZ capture and is currently available to buy? Have googled and come up with a variety of boxes like movie box but hesitant to buy it if it is not recognised by the LE software

Take a look at this Grass Valley ADVC 110 interface. It is a firewire device and will work with EZ Capture and the logging tool in Liquid. What it can't do, that the the Liquid BOB could, is playback sections of the timeline that need rendering or make it possible to playback HD timelines to an external monitor. Otherwise, it can capture just like the BOB. I recommend buying it from Gary at Videoguys. See here.

    Thanks Lew

Before I spend money on the ADVC 110 I  took your advice from  an earlier post and reloaded the device manager for the BOB from the disc. Whereas the System Device recognises Pinnacle Marvin Bus there is no reference to it under Sound, Video and Game controller.

Could that be the reason the device is not recognised  when loading EZ capture and does that suggest the bob is faulty?

Try another USB port on your machine. Make sure the BOB is the only thing connected to that USB controller. If you still do not see the BOB, then it is probably dead. I assume the power lamp on the BOB is lit.

    Re: Faulty break out box

I have to report to demise of an old trusted friend - my  Liquid Editon Pro Break Out boxCrying   Having switched USB ports it was unable to be recognised by its pal(!) Windows and has now joined other BOBs at its final resting place in the Avid Heaven. Rest in pieces.

Will let you know how I get on with the ADVS 110

    Thanks Lew

    Re: Faulty break out box

Hello Lew. Have prurchased the ADVC 110 to run with Liquid but sadly have come across the following thread on the Canopus site about the ADVC 110 which suggests the two are not compatable adn don't want to end up with a box I cannot use

Just want your feedback and assurance before I consider perhaps cancelling what is quite an expensive order..

     Thanks

     Hello,

I know this is off topic but I believe that this is the best place to ask.
On GrassValley web ADVC 110 specification :"Compatible with leading editing and DVD authoring applications including Grass Valley™ EDIUS®, Sony Vegas, Apple Final Cut Pro and iMovie, Avid Xpress DV and Liquid, Adobe Premiere Pro, Ulead MediaStudio Pro, and Windows Movie Maker"

I can not make this work.
Does anybody has this combination that it's working?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Re: Faulty break out box

Is it working on your system in Window's Movie Maker? If not, then it is not installed properly. It is a firewire device and Liquid (or any other NLE) will see it just like they see a video camera with a FW interface. Make sure it is being properly recognized by Windows.

    Re: Faulty break out box

Make sure The BOB power supply works, a bad power supply is the problem one half of the time. You can find an equivalent.

    Re: Faulty break out box

Hello TV John. First time I heard that one. Will certainly get new power supply transformer as the image started again being captured the other day then suddenly - like a spike- shut the bob down

    1. Just a quick thank you for your advice. Changed the transformer and back to normal
