How to import footage from Sony PMW-350?

I received footage from a shooter using the above subject camera.  The files in each folder have .mp4 file extension as well as .xml, .smi, .bim, and .ppm files.  The shooter sent an email stating the footage is in the MPEG-2 Long GOP codec, 1920 x 1080 at 59.94 fps.  I created a new project using the 1920 x 1080 59.94i preset but am unable to import or X-Receive the footage.  What do I need to do to import this?

    Thanks!

That camera produces XDCam HD footage. My guess is that you need to convert it to a Liquid friendly format. I think you can do that with the Sony Clip Browser. See here.

You might want to look at Grass Valley Edius as a replacement for Liquid. Has a very similar workflow and would handle these files (and just about anything else) natively.

    Yeah,

There is a crossgrade for $379 special right now...

If I was running Liquid currently, I'd take advantage.  The current Studio 16 does not handle XDCAM HD natively.

As always - thank you Lew!  I used the Sony Clipbrowser software to import and convert to MXF which worked great in Liquid - imported as gray slices.  At this point I can't really justify purchasing any new editing software when there are suitable free methods to import most of the more current video formats.  If I made my living at it I'm sure I would be singing a different tune!
