    Blu-ray disk - MPEG2 or H264

I have a movie recorded using Panasonic HDC-SD60 camcorder, in HD 1080i AVCHD format and would like to make Blu-ray disk. And have a question. For best quality... And Higher bitrate...  Wchich format of compression is better: MPEG2, or H264?

    Re: Blu-ray disk - MPEG2 or H264

Mpeg-2 won't let you get as much on the disc, but is more reliable - there were less pixelation issues in earleir builds of AV1 and there are in all versions of PS

H 264 offers the same quality for a lower bitrate.

At maximum quality on a bluray they both use a bitrate of 40Mbps

However, your SD60 has a maximum bitrate of 17Mbps, so either format will produce discs in which the limit is the camera - you won't make it look better by using a bit rate massively higher than the original.
