Showcenter 200 and Windows 7 - No connection with the Media server

I did not succeed in having SC200 connected with my PC computer which runs Win7. The computer "sees" the SC200 via ehernet link but the SC200 on it's side refuses to connect with the PC. I have upgraded the SC200 firmware with latest bêta firmware.

    Any help ?

What are you running on the Windows side of the equation that will act as a "Media Server" to the Showcenter?  Window Media Player will (supposedly) work as a UPnP server, and (assuming there are no firewalls or whatever blocking access) the Showcenter should be able to run as a UPnP client using Windows Media Player as a data source.  Or, you could install a dedicated Showcenter server such as SwissCenter that will allow you to use "traditional" Showcenter menus/browsing/whatever in order to play back your media.

I use windows media player, the one embedded with Windows 7. The problem is that my SC200 does not see the computer/mediaserver. I use an ethernet link and I enter the IP address of the PC.

I'm not sure that entering the IP address is actually the right thing to do if you're using a UPnP server.  That would be the right thing to do for SwissCenter (or the old Pinnacle Media Manager software, if you were running on XP or earlier), but I *think* that UPnP devices should just "appear' in the list of available servers.  At least, that's what I remember happening when I added some Network-attached storage to my network...they run the Twonky media server by default, and if I remember correctly, they both just "showed up" on my SC200 media server page without me doing anything.

Hey, just checking...do you have to "do something" to enable UPnP out of Win 7's Media Player?  It may be that there is more setup that needs to be done, honestly.

Me?  I'd check out SwissCenter if I were you.  I think you'd have more control over what is (and what isn't) exposed in that case.  But you shouldn't *have* to do that...the Media Player UPnP server *should* work on its own, as soon as everything gets straightened out.

Thanks a lot. For an unknown reason (maybe a restart of SC200), it finally works, SC200 connected automatically with Window media player and I have access to my whole media library... Amazing for such an old media passerel.
