    Cannot Sign On to YouTube

I've tried several times through the Export Tab, Web Button, YouTube and got to the sign on screen for my account and cannot sign on.  To test my username and password, I went to YouTube through the web and was able to sign on with my username and password fine that I was using through Avid.  The workaround would then to be create a file instead and then upload, but wondering if there is a problem with the sign on through Avid?  It would be much easier to do it through the Web interface rather than a work around.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

It has worked for me many times before, so I just checked it again and it worked again. Perhaps a little temporary difficulty with YouTube?

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

No problem here, try it with antivirus or firewall disable.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

I tried disabling my antivirus and firewall and it still didn't work to sign on to YouTube.  Are either of you Gmail users?  The reason I ask is that awhile back, Gmail changed the way you sign on to YouTube to use your Gmail email account username and password...which works when you go straight to YouTube and enter that information.  If you put in your original YouTube username and you are a Gmail user, it changes your username to your Gmail username automatically.  I did try my Gmail email address (full address), as well as just the prefix of my Gmail address (before the @ sign) with the password and no luck.  I also tried my original YouTube username with it's password and no luck.  I'm just wondering if this is the conflict since when I currently try to sign on to YouTube and use my original username it changes that username to my Gmail email address for my username to sign on.  Did you all (or anyone else) have a YouTube account prior to Gmail's changing of their procedure to sign on with YouTube?  If so, what are you using that works to sign on to YouTube through Avid Studio...your Gmail email address or your original YouTube username?

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

Yes - I have a number of youTube and Gmail accounts.

Most of them happen the have matching usernames (before the @ symbol) and I can log in via AvSo using the gmail password.

I still have an account that hasn't been linked to any gmail address and although I can't log in using YouTube, I can with AvSo.

So the issue might well be if your YouTube and Gmail accounts have different names but are linked. ...

One account that I have that is liked to a different address, I have to enter the full email address and the Gmail password and that works.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

I really am at a loss...frustrating.  I have tried my gmail address in it's entirety (xxx@gmail.com where xxx is my email address) and just the prefix, (xxx) with the Gmail password and it keeps coming back with "Login Failed".  I tried again to go to YouTube and use my full email address (xxx@gmail.com) and my password and log on with directly through the internet to YouTube with no problem.  With you all saying you are not having problems, I'm at a loss what to do and what may be different that is not allowing the login.

Does anyone know where you can submit an item for support for Avid Studio?  Going to their website only directs you to their support for Audio Support and I can't find anywhere where it directs you to support for Avid Studio.  I went here:   http://www.avid.com/US/support/support-contact

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

Try uninstalling AS its worth a shot, I'm searching now which path does AS saves the log in and password, maybe if we delete the info, there it might help us troubleshoot the problem. BTW what browser are you using, I use firefox,

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

I use Firefox as well. I'll use the uninstall option as the last option.  As you probably are aware, installing this program with the additional component of SmartSound and then getting everything activated takes quite a bit of time and is a pain! :-)

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

You could just try renaming the Settings .XML file. The username is stored there. Don't see how this would help though.

My suggestion would be to open a new Youtube and gmail account and see if that works. If it doesn't, the problem isn't to do with the account details.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

Log into your Gmail account first (have it running in the background), then try and Export to YouTube.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

I agree with jjn and Tony P, I did noticed that I'm login to Youtube using Firefox when I uploaded the file, its worth a shot.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

I logged on to my YouTube account with both Firefox and IE (separate times) then tried to export to YouTube through AS and it still gave me the Login Failed.  I haven't yet tried to open a new Gmail Account and YouTube Account to determine if it would work and thereby determine that the issue may have something to do with my current settings having conflict with my current account.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

Thank you for that reminder...I searched for settings.xml and couldn't find that file to rename it...do you have the path for it or maybe that's the problem as I did a search and that file was not found.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

I'm not on Windows-7 right now, but try this path Users/Your profile name/App data/Local.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

didn't find settings.xml in that path...and tried again (Windows 7) searching through the main search for the file settings.xml and could not locate any such file...even when I tried the wildcard *.xml.  Could this possibly be the reason?  Is this a file that installs when you load AS?

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

You should setup your windows explorer to show:

    a) hidden files and folders
    b) the extensions for files with known extensions

The folder with settings.xml is in a hidden folder path.

Yes, I had already done this...and there was no settings.xml file with the path provided or able to be searched once the hidden folders were exposed.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

    Path to settings.xml on my Win 7 system is C> users> my name> AppData> Local> Avid> Studio> 1.0> Settings

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

Thank you for the complete path.  I found the file...not sure why Windows 7 couldn't find it in the search...and still can't.  At any rate, I renamed the original settings.xml file to settingsold.xml and then started AS.  I tried logging in to YouTube through AS and it still said "login failed".  I then signed on to YouTube through Firefox, then tried again to log on through AS and again received, "login failed".  I then went back to the Settings file to verify that a new settings.xml file was created when I started AS and it had as there were now my old file, settingsold.xml and the new settings.xml.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

To further isolate the problem, create a dummy account on Youtube.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

Yes, that was my next move...I then would need to also need to create another Gmail account as well and link them to duplicate the issue to see if it would work or not.  If it does, I think the answer will be to either reload AS (ugh!) or live with this and export to my computer and upload through my browser.  Not sure why this feature does not work...it's a clean install on a new computer.

I'm also puzzled, but doing the above steps will narrow our troubleshooting.

Re: Cannot Sign On to YouTube

Created a "dummy" account  in You Tube to test if it would work to upload through export in AS...and it worked.  This new dummy account was not linked to my Gmail account.  Went back again, to test my current YouTube account that is linked to Gmail, and AS contined to tell me "Login Failed"
