Magic Bullet Looks (PS14) loading problem solved with old graphics driver for ATI Radeon HD 4650

Thought I'd share this info as it's taken me about four evenings to solve. When I load Magic Bullet Looks (from within Pinnacle Studio 14) I got exactly the same issue as seen on this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8_hyZD0o9k

Basically it seems to load but the images all load into the wrong place on the screen and none of the looks could be selected, clearly a graphics issue. The guy that posted to YouTube had a different setup but the same problem so I went through trying to find drivers for my card.

Ignore the advice to always update your driver to the latest version - that's what caused the problem for me in the first place. I had to roll back the graphics driver to a version about 3 previous to the currently available version.

     My kit is as follows:

    Dell Studio 1745 laptop

    8GB memory

    ATI Radeon HD 4650

Driver versions that cause the problem for the Radeon 4650 (that I tested) :

    8.632.1.200 (17/08/2009)

    8.56.1.15 (24/04/2009)

    8.791.0.0 (26/10/2010)

    8.631.0.0 (25/06/2010)

Graphics driver that solved the problem (downloaded from the Dell drivers site):

    8.713.3.200 (12/04/2010)

Thought this info may be useful to others......

Thanks for this helpful advice.  I have to agree with you.  After updating to the latest driver for my ATI Radeon HD3650, I kept getting the blue screen and had to roll back to an earlier version to fix it.  Latest is not always best.

Are you able to post the link to the Dell drivers site?  Thanks again  Yes
