    XDCAM and EX3 file imports

Can all (or any) versions of Pinnacle Studio 14 import XDCAM and EX3 files from an external hard-drive after they have been transferred from the memory cards?

    Cheers, Stu.

No. You need to convert them first with some other software. Another option is to use Avid Media Composer which you can test 30 days for free. See here:

    Hi Hans,

Perhaps you could be a little more specific on this point - what would these files need to be converted to, exactly? Which software does this?

It would be great if future versions of Studio were able to capture XDCAM footage in file form direct from cameras such as the EX1/EX3, importing direct from SxS cards.

I'm not really sure if Studio is the right choice if you need to import such formats. Typically the cameras are not much used in the consumer market and I doubt a future version will be able to handle that files.

I can't give you a recipe which software to use to convert the XDCAM files as I use for such formats Media Composer and Liquid without the need to use other software. Maybe you can use Format Factory or Super for such a task but I'm not really experienced with them.
