    Windows 7 and Liquid 7.2

    Hi Guys,

Thought you might be interested in the facdt I have just loaded Window 7 onto my editiing computer, and it works so well, except Title Deko standard and Pro. Which is interesting as on Vista and the Windows 7 RC, standard Title Deko disn't work, but Pro worked quite well.

I Understand 7.2 does not support Window 7.

All other function work normally, even generating to tape etc.

If anyone has any solutions would love to know.

    regards

Take a look at the Vista Installation notes here in the forum. If you put TDK Pro into XP compatibility mode, it may work.

Mr Stone, you are wonderful. Why is it when something doesn't work, we immediatly think the worse. I will try your suggestion, which I'm sure will work .

Again thanks I will let you know the outcome.

also, please read the " install in Vista thread " it is the install app for TDK Pro that should be put in XP mode, not the app itself, once installed

I will be buying a new PC in the next few months, what version of Windows 7 should I look for?

A 32 bits if you want to use the Pro Bob, if you want to use a 64 byte sys of W7, a Canopus Advc 300 has been supported until the latest windows update, it will hopefully be supported when the full version of W7 is released

Thank you Tomas, I only have the software version of Liquid 7.2.

But apart from 32 or 64 bit versions, should I go for the Windows 7 Professional or Home versions

Re: Windows 7 and Liquid 7.2

W7 isn´t so well known yet as only one version have been released during the beta testing and that is the Ultimate version.

All other versions might or might not work, they haven´t been tested with Liquid yet

Re: Windows 7 and Liquid 7.2

    Hi Guys,

Just as a follow up to my Title Deko situaton as above. I had to use Title DEKO Pro (which I must admit I dont like all that much, pefer standard version)

Loaded it through compatiblity mode XP service pack 3, and it works wonderfully well.

I'm just so pleased. As I've mentioned before Windows 7 is so fast, and now it works exceptionally well in all areas with Liquid 7.2. I have tested everything I can possibly do, an no problems anywhere.

My thanks to all that helped.

    regards

Very good, I have done some adjustments in the very end of the " install in Vista" thread now, seems as it works well even with W7

If you need the XP compatability mode then go for Professional as Home wont have this feature in.

Very good info Robin, so it is at least the Pro version of W7 to be used then, seems that my install thread doesn´t need to many adjustments

    Dear fellow editors,

My PC is a dual quad core with 6 GB memory and Win Pro XP64.
I consider to upgrade to Windows 7, but the question is: W7 Professional or Ultimate, and 32 or 64 bits? What is the best choice?

I quote my post, written earlier in this thread, again

The Ultimate version might be a little more expensive than the Pro one, if you need more features, just buy it.

Re: Windows 7 and Liquid 7.2

Without getting into the 32 v 64 bit debate, there is a "at a glance" comparison of the versions here. Hope this helps, looking at it I can't see the use (for me) of the Ultimate version. Not sure about the U.S. but, if you have a valid .ac.uk email address you can get a copy of either Premium or Professional 32 or 64 for £30.00 here, we get the download link on thursday(and probably watch the servers crash on thursday as well!!).

Yes Tony, so I have been told by other users, no guarantees in this as I am a 64 bits man but it seemed logical as Vista and W7 seems to work very much in the same way regarding the realtion to Liquid

Re: Windows 7 and Liquid 7.2

    Hello All,

good to read the possibility of using windows 7 with LE7.2 however when I read the information from microsoft, when you have windows XP and want to upgrade to windows 7 without the step vista in between you need to install windows 7 complete new on your PC.

My question in this respect is: will LE7.2 install on a windows 7 environment because you have compeletely remeoved all files or is there another solution?

Thank you in advance to guide me true this because I know windows 7 is much better/faster than windows XP.

Yes, just follow the pinned " install in Vista" thread at the tech subforum,  seems to work also for W7

Re: Windows 7 and Liquid 7.2

    So.......

For a PC that is used strictly for media creation (Liquid, Adobe Production Suite, SmartSound and etc) what benefit does W7 offer other than speed.  Is there a compelling reason to abandon tried & true XP?

I understand there is not a graceful migration from XP, which is not a problem as I have all original application disks and all media is stored on seperate HDs.
