Studio 14 installation fails "out of space" on a very large drive

Studio installation fails with an error "you have only 200MB free on your hard drive". In fact, I have 1.2TB free. it looks like the space calculation routine is off by a terabyte.

    Is there a workaround?

1.2 TB is 1 TB + 200 Gb (not Mb) so I do not think that is the problem. You could partition the disc to make the system (C:) drive a reasonable size.

Are you installing PS14 on C:? do you have other partition or harddrive on your computer?.

Do you have USB external harddrive, if yes disconnect it before installing.

Yes, I am installing S14 on C:. Yes, C: is the only hard drive partition that I have on this machine. Yes, I am aware that 1.2TB is 1TB + 200GB. My point was that it miscalculates the amount of free space; whether it's by 1TB or by 1.2TB seems to be less important.

No, I don't have external USB drives. I have mapped network drives; but I disconnected them but it didn't make any difference. No, it's not feasible to repartition / reformat C: drive and reinstall all the applications that I have. It is also very likely void the support warranty that computer manufacturer provides for Windows OS (windows was preinstalled in a single partition).

It is difficult to make the case to the manufacturer that I need to repartition the drive because Pinnacle Install  has a bug, and miscalculates free space by a terabyte.

Is it possible for Pinnacle to fix this bug instead? Should be an easy fix. Most hard drives sold today are 1.5TB or more; so I assume it should be easy to reproduce this problem.

Do you have a previous Studio installed? Your Windows OS is it an upgrade or a full version?

Do you have a recovery drive on that computer.

Do you have a previous Studio installed?
    No

Your Windows OS is it an upgrade or a full version?
    Full

Do you have a recovery drive on that computer.
    No

Sorry to repeat myself - but did you guys try to reproduce the problem (all you need is a Windows 7 64-bit with a hard drive that has 1TB+ of free space)? If not - why not? It's not really a support issue; it's a bug report. So, ideally, you would get the bug fixed and post a patch.

Can you try, this delete the Installshield folder, copy the installation disc to your harddrive.

Then run the installation from the copied files, right click on the Welcome.exe then run as Administrator.

BTW disable antivirus when your installing, Also can you post a screenshot of the error.

Re: Studio 14 installation fails "out of space" on a very large drive

I did several things: I installed "for me only" (as opposed to "for all users"); and installed it into mu user directory (as opposed to "public"). I also copied the disk contents to the hard drive, and ran "as Administrator"

One of these things helped; I didn't have any errors.

Thank you. I am glad I didn't have to repartition the drive. I don't have antivirus; and I don't know what is "Installshield folder". Apparently, that was not necessary.

Re: Studio 14 installation fails "out of space" on a very large drive

Yesterday this same thing happened to me. After initiating the restart after installing Net framework (what a bummer having to install that, really..) my XP crashed with BSOD, no disc space. I panic-deleted stuff on reboot and made it the 2nd time. It messed up my reg. database all the same, because XP was running out of space before doing the BSOD.

Then all of a sudden I was back to having 100 giga available. This was my 250 giga C-drive with no partitions. Not cool.

I'm not really sure if your issue is the same as the OP.

Did you successfully installed Studio? is it behaving normal, Did you run checkdisc or similar HDD utility to determine your HDD state.
