It says Interlaced when it's Progressive.

When I import some .mxf clips (via Clipbrowser) which were shot 1080 25p, the properties in Liquid say they are Interlaced (bottom field first).

I can select to make them non Interlaced, but should they not be Progressive, or am I missing something?

I think Liquid simply doesn't see by itself if it's progressive or not. You have to tell it that it is.

Media Composer 4,x with the new mix and match function have the same prob when importing files from AE, believes that my interlaced files are progressive, have to correct it in that app too ...  if it is of any help .....Stick out tongue

Re: It says Interlaced when it's Progressive.

I have seen this same thing with Liquid pro 7.2,mxf clip properties show 30p ex1 clips to be interlaced. The thing that makes me think they really are interlaced is that with timeline properties set to progressive 1920x1080 the clip still has to go through a lenghty render.I'm woundering is the sony clip converter converting the clips to iterlaced??? I have also imported same clips into pp cs3 but checking properties there does not give info as to wheather its pro. or int.

Open the source clips using GSpot. For MPEG-2 based files it clearly indicates if the video is progressive or interlaced (the indicators are in the Video section, the "T" (time) box; it will say either "prog" or "i/l"). Unfortunately you don't always get the inidcators for either progressive or interlaced for AVIs.
