"Failed to get Video from Device" on Windows 7 / S14 / Audigy 2 firewire

    Hi

This is a bit strange. I can control my Panasonic GS180  fine (rewind/play controls work, Studio sees that the camera is there) but S14 can't capture the video or audio. It says "failed to get video from device" in the middle preview screen and the "Start Capture" button is disabled.

I'm using a firewire port in a  Audigy2 Platinum EX breakout box. Has always worked fine (on Win XP) - drivers seem ok for everything else. Drivers are version 6.0.1.1371 From Creative June 2009.

    Any ideas welcome...

I have Audigy2 ZS and recall having this problem when I was on Win 7 beta. I downloaded and used the driver from Creative but had buggy performance I'm not sure if I used the June released driver, though I'm pretty sure it was the latest one at the time (back in July). I remember having to download a hacked 3rd party driver to make it to work. I'll look for more information about this driver.

     I have also Panasonic NV-GS180

This is the same message i have too, the only differense is that i have a firewire port from VIA. The driver is from 21.06.2006 , but windows dont find any newer driver.

After searching a little bit, im thinking this must be a problem in pinnacle 14. I have no problem transfering video with other applications like, Windows Movie Maker and CyberLink.

Hope anyone can help us with this.......

I had the same issue, yet it was solved by updating my graphics card drivers. In my case it worked with Studio 12, but capture from Studio 14 did not, updated drivers (even though I had drivers from july, to the newest and.. BAM :D

Worked for me.. but maybe not for you?

Thanks for sharing that. It's a possibility that the video card drivers may have something to do with it and it is worth a shot.

Tried your method without success. The same problem still.Sad

Unfortunately, this is not the only problem I have with the 14 and VISTA
I have also installed 14 on an older computer with Windows XP where everything works except for imports from the camcorder.
I solved this by importing through Studio 11, which I also have on my XP computer. But I would like to avoid using my 7 year Old computer.

Re: "Failed to get Video from Device" on Windows 7 / S14 / Audigy 2 firewire

Hmm.. this sounds like an isolated problem with either your new computer's configuration or that version of Windows itself. Have you tried turning off other background applications?

Re: "Failed to get Video from Device" on Windows 7 / S14 / Audigy 2 firewire

Now I have started to find a solutions to my problems.Smile

    I could not
choose files from the disk D only from disk C.
This problem I had in my Vista computer with a downloaded version of Studio 14 Ultimate, I also purchased a CD with the program 14 but the problem was the same.

I loaded studio 14 also in a computer with XP and it worked better, but I could only read files from disk C.

    I t
ry to install and reinstall but the same problem was still there ..Devil

Then I saw something interesting .. When I open “Select video from a different folder and chose "All supported video files"
the language was not Swedish! There were some strange characters that was not the installation language, (Swedish) it looked more like Japanese? I installed the program again, but chose English as the installation language and the problem disappeared immediately .. Both on Vista (Acer Computer) and my old XP computer (Siemens).

Try to install the disk in Swedish again and the problem was back ..

So now I run an English version.

In my XP, everything works. (Well not everything.. I had to do the imports with studio 11)

In VISTA the import don’t work so I use NERO 9 .. and  the “SAVE AS” does not work, it locks the computer in VISTA, but otherwise it works.

Would be nice to be able to solve these
    problem also ..

There was the same problem with the download and the download from the CD.. Can you look at this problem Marc?  I would like to use the Swedish version.Wink

Re: "Failed to get Video from Device" on Windows 7 / S14 / Audigy 2 firewire

Hello i have the same problem, i have a Panasonic NV-GS17 PAL

    Studio 14

and have test it on my computer with Windows 7 64-bit and Radeon HD 4870
and i have test to change Drivers to the Radeon and firewire but nothing works, i have test in on my wifes laptop with windows Vista 32-bit and a get the same result it´s not working,

but i have lokalised in the capture windows:

Then in the top right part of the screen, you have a "Mode" window, where you can choose capture presets such as DV capture, MPEG capture and Custom. To the right of the word "Presets" is a button, looking like a small arrow pointing to the right.

    press that button.

    The presets window opens

For a normal PAL camera that has been correctly recognized, you see the Video Compression Codec listed as DV, with Frame size of 720 x 576, audio compression codec as PCM.

But in my case it´s  is the Frame size 720 x 480 and not 720 x 576 somethings there is wrong!

i have a PAL camera and all the settings is for PAL but the frame size is for NTSC!!

do you all have a PAL camera???

do you get the same frame size like me???

Re: "Failed to get Video from Device" on Windows 7 / S14 / Audigy 2 firewire

To # Haraldsson, it seems to me as if your issue was open the files and not capture it.. *sigh*

For me.. i could capture (it's not the same as import) from Studio 12 but not Studio 14.

Graphics card :  Asus EHA 3650 - worked with the latest drivers from ATi for me, however I have heard that most of the time you will need to download from Asus to get the drivers working :P (i didn't) Geeked

Oh by the way, i had a bunch of issues when I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 with everything studio related. I then uninstalled studio , and reinstalled it, didn't help..

So a clean installation of windows 7 is to prefere, even though Microsoft says it should work with an upgrade to Windows 7..

     Good luck!
