    Powersupply for Moviebox DV?

I found a used Moviebox DV, this model http://www.amazon.com/Pinnacle-Systems-210100348-Studio-Moviebox/dp/B0001AUB08

My problem is that there is no powersupply unit, so I have to buy something for it.

My questions are:  How many volts, DC or AC and ampere does it need?

If DC, + (plus) or - (negative) in the middle of the contact?

    Thanx!

    A few more questions.
It seems to be a very special model of powersupply.

Anybody who knows the name and modelnumber on that unit?

Can I buy it as a sparepart in Sweden/Europe?

Is it? It seems to me like a regular ac adapter that you could pick up at a local electronics shop.

    Re: Powersupply for Moviebox DV?

A high amperage adapter, 3A, and only 3.3V DC wouldn't be a very common adapter. The 3.3V DC is odd enough, although 3V would probably work too, but typically you wouldn't see anything much higher than 300ma.

I have the US version of the MovieBox USB. I bought it years ago and it came with Studio 9 which is how I ended up being a Pinnacle "fan" Wink

I haven't used it in years because I quickly found out that capturing as mpeg-2 is not the best way to go. I soon switched to firewire capture as avi files. Before you invest a lot of time, and possibly money, into finding the european adapter, you may want to re-consider how you want to capture your video files.

P.S. here's the model info on my adapter. don't know if any of this will apply to the european model.

    model: DSA-S15-03 A

I´ve been looking around for what you said is a regular ac adapter.

    I can´t find a 3.3V and 3A adapter anywhere.
No local electronics shop where I live have it.

    If it´s 3.3V it´s only max 1.5A or I can get 3V and 2.5A.

A tip on an another forum said. Use a normal powersupply unit from an old PC, there is 3.3V output.

The Moviebox I found is a firewire-version as you see if you follow the link http://www.amazon.com/Pinnacle-Systems-210100348-Studio-Moviebox/dp/B0001AUB08

I´m going to use it with Liquid 7.2 and .avi-format

Thanx for the adapter info, have to look around

the voltage you can fudge a LITTLE bit, but the amps has to be a minimum of 3A if that's what the MovieBox needs. You can go over the 3A but it's unlikely you'll find a DC adapter over 3A anyway. If you go under the 3A eventually the adapter will overheat and burn out. And watch out for AC output adapters. They are more likely to have a higher amp rating but if you put AC voltage where you need DC voltage, poof goes your moviebox.

I'll get intouch with sales and see if they still carry these as spares.
