Most people who use SmartMovie (from what I've seen here) use it as a STARTING POINT. It can do a nice job, but most people usually want to adjust a few things anyway.
As with most editing, play around some and see what you think. Try a few extreme examples... slow/romantic... fast/funny... lots of pictures... a few pictures... do some "throw-away" projects just to see what it's like without spending a lot of time on them. By the end of the day, you'll be the expert telling what to do.
Seriously, play around some, and please let us know what you discover, what you like, what you don't.
Of course you can continue to ask questions here. I'm not trying to shut you down. I'm merely encouraging you to explore. You won't damage your original footage or pictures in any way.
Oh - The SmartMovies come into two categories: Slides and videos. I forgot about that and it caught me by surprise when Pinnacle made that change.
