The MovieBox DV does not work with Liquid. Liquid works with the Pro BOB, MovieBox Deluxe, 700/710-USB, and 500/700-PCI.

I have the Moviebox DV, and it works just fine to get analogue into Liquid 7.2. You have to select Live input into Liquid. The box and Liquid will not allow you to digitise audio only, it needs a video source to do that.

Can you get analogue video out of Liquid 7.2 and the Moviebox to a TV or monitor?

Yes, you get timeline playback to an analogue device such as a deck or monitor. You do not get an output when there is rendering going on, the screen goes blank, but you can use the colour correction to do adjustments in realtime. I hope this helps?

Re: Pinnacle Studio MovieBox DV with Liquid 7.2, does it work?
The reason for using the Pro BOB / MovieBox Deluxe / other supported devices is so you get real-time output of non-rendered material (yellow slices). It also lets you preview the effects in the effects editors without needing to render them first. Also, if dealing with HD you can get RT downconvert through the box.
The MovieBox DV (as well as any DV device) will let you get analog in and out, but not RT previews or down conversion. If all you need is analog I/O to Liquid and your camera doesn't support pass-thru (or you don't want to use your camera for pass-thru) then the MovieBox DV will suffice. Personally I primarily use my Pro BOB or MBD for real-time previews, particularly color correction using the classic Color Correction editor.

Thank you for good answers. That´s what I hoped to hear.
I don´t want to use my camera for pass-thru jobs so I think the MBDV will be a good thing for me.

I would be interested to know why you don't like to use your camera as a pass-through. I have been using my D8 camera as a pass-through for my old Hi8 tapes from my even older Sony TR-101 Hi8 camera, and find it works quite well. I don't get time code transfered because I don't want to run the tape transport mechanism in the D8 camera (by first recording a Hi8 tape and then playing it back), but Liquid does a fairly good job of scene detection without the exact time code. I also have the option of capturing with Scenalyzer which does an excellent job of scene detection based on scene content.

Re: Pinnacle Studio MovieBox DV with Liquid 7.2, does it work?
I use my camera as a pass-through unit now and it works perfectly, both with Liquid and Media Composer.
But I don´t like that because if something happens and I need my camera as a camera quickly I have to interrupt for example a VHS or Hi8 transfering with 10 of 60 minutes left.
If it´s possible I want to have my camera as a camera only and thats why I asked about MovieboxDV.
I hope you understand me.

Many have found that the camera pass-thrus do a better job with older VHS tapes due to synch issues related to tape stretching and that some recorders had loose spec's.

Re: Pinnacle Studio MovieBox DV with Liquid 7.2, does it work?
I have a TBC between the VHS, Hi8, or U-matic-player and the camcorder, so I have a good signal to work with. I guess there will be no problems.

Your work flow is what should direct how you use your equipment. If you do need to have quick access to your camera, then what you are doing is the best way. My D8 camera sits in its bag until I need it for either pass through work or on the odd occasion when I need to use it as a second or back-up camera. Normally I use only my HDV camera for taping and it is always available for that.
You say that you don't want to interrupt a capture, but I actually have done that on some occasions with no detrimental effects. You just stop the process, take out the tape (if it is in the pass through camera), or disconnect it from the deck from which you are capturing, and use the camera as needed. Then when you are ready to continue, just carry on from where you left off.

For what it is worth......
The MovieBox DV works fine with After Effects. For me, that alone is worth having one.

Yes I know that but I don´t like it and it´s how I work today. If, for example, I have to capture a whole tape from start to end and then burn a simple DVD-copy of it, the above process will force me to do some editing.

More good news.
Does it work with Media Composer also?

Re: Pinnacle Studio MovieBox DV with Liquid 7.2, does it work?
I should clarify that my use of the MB DV is for comp preview. I have not used it for any other purpose with After Effects.
Sorry, but I have never tried Media Composer and cannot comment on th MB DV use with it. I trust that someone will answer as this forum is full of people with knowledge and a willingness to share. Good luck.
