Hi.  spent days and numerous chat with tech.support.Finally I was told that either run my movie/slide show from start to end, or using submenues specify segments, but I can not run the full show and then just select segments to view and return to submenu.Sorry Pinnacle Studio 14 programmers but I can not believe that there is no "trick" to include and force the main menu to run from start to end and then the submenu to do his job.Did something changed since 1982 when I started to write engineering programs with Fortran, and later with all versions of Basic.There were problems which were not possible to solve according to Tech. supports of programs that time.Surprise! it was possible with by tricking the program. No, I do not claime that I am genius, or some uebermench. But excuse me, why did you created the MAIN menu if it is useless?What the Main menu is capable to do now it is possible to do with the Sub menu easily.So could somebody from Pinnacle explain why this menu problem exist. By the way, your datasheet received from tech.support describe on a full page how to view the program from beginning to the end.Gentlemen, it can be done using 3 (three) steps.

Please, today when everything goes to DVD, try to fix this menu problem. I am sure many if not all of your users will be extremly happy.

This has been a long standing request since at least version 9. Studio's menu system does have certain limitations and this is one of them. One work around, if you have the space on the the DvD, is to duplicate the video footage - with the main menu (Play all) pointing to the original and the sub menu (scene selection) pointing to the copy of video with RTM markers at end of each chapter on the copy. Works fine without noticible picture quality loss up to around 40mins of footage.

History says your request will fall on deaf ears. If the "two copies" work around is not suitable then there are other DVD authoring programs out there that would allow you to avoid Studios menus altogether. I tend to put menus at end of time line so DVD auto plays and chapter selection is available at any time with the use of the menu/next/previous buttons on the remote control.

As Colin says, this is a frequently made request.  But to be fair, I don't know of any other consumer level NLE that has a DVD authoring component that gives you the choices you seek.  If you are really interested in creating a specialized menu, there is some free authoring software that will allow you to do what you want.  One of the members of the Video Friends Forum has created a tutorial.  With all your Fortran and Basic knowledge, you should have no difficulty following the instructions.
