Dear All.....good morning,

I would like to submit you a doubt.

Suppose that I have into two different directories, lets say "Video1" and "Video2", two different kind of videos to be edited using Avid .

My question is: can I work today on "Video1", so Avid create into that directory all the necessaries information he needs, and tomorrow start to work with the "Video2", and he creates there the relevant necessaries needed information, without waiting to have terminated the work of one anmd then pass to the other, and viceversa?

Usually I prefere to have in the same directory all the informations and folder related to that directory so that I set in Avid the specific address where he must create the "Media", "Render" etc.

I have seen that jumping for example from "Video1" to "Video2" and viceversa, Avid id creating several information during this "jump" of "Video1" into the directory of "Video2", but I do not know if during such steps he looses some information.

The same happen when I pass from "Video2" to "Video1"

Can I do that or it is better to terminate one video and then pass to the other one?

You can have video material in any folder you want BUT Liquid does not automatically tie the folder to the project. So, you need to manually change the assigned folder in Media Management.

Liquid can see more than one media folder at the same time but it cannot save to more than the selected folder. So in Media Management you can create a number of paths and Liquid will see them all and you can use media from them in any project but if you want to save your captured and imported media to a specific folder for a specific project you need to manually assign that folder to be your working folder when you open the project. You do that my moving the "X"'s for captured and imported material to the folder you want to use while you are working on that project.

I do this all the time. See page 332 of the PDF manual.

Perhaps I understood, but there is something else that I can ask you.

It could be ok if I create 2 common directories: one for the Media and one for the Rendering telling those paths to Avid so that for any kind of Video, Avid is referring to them?

But, when I change from Video1 to Video2, in the Video directories, Avid is writing something or not? (it seems that create a folder of Video1 into directory Video2.....)

If you move the X's, then that is the directory that Liquid sends captured and imported media to. It is the only media directory that Liquid writes to. Liquid will still read all your media directories. Renders always go to the render directory set in System Setup.
