How do we enable notification of threads?

 I see a button "Enable Email Subscription", but I don't know which way the sense is.... if I want the thread enabled for notification, should the button read "Enable Email Subscription" or "Disable Email Subscription"?  I think maybe it should read "Disable..." and the checkmark indicates it is enabled, but not clear enough.  (It would be better if a checkbox was used and labeled: Email Subscription Enabled, instead of an action button.)

Which way should it be set?

How is it set on your page?  Are you getting the notifications?

I don't even know where that button is.

Added: I just found that button on my preferences page.  Click on your "signed in as" name (top right of the forum page) and go to "e-mail".  There you have the Enable E-mail Notification with the "Yes" or "No" button choices.

To enable Email subscription, your must both enable Emails and then mark which forums you want to be sent. To enable your subscription, click on your user name in the upper right (where it says "signed in as ....."), select the Email tab, and select the Enable Email subscriptions option. Then go back to the forums and from either forum main page, or any subforum main page click on Forum Subscriptions in the Shortcuts box on the right. Select the list of forum to which you want to subscribe and click the Save button at the very bottom of the page.

Does the above cause notification of all posts, or just the threads I participate in?  I want just the threads I participate in.

Each thread has the "Enable Email Subscription" button at the top.  Is that used to selectively enable notification of that thread?  If so, which way do we set it (as per the original question)?
