No sound in Pinnacle Studio 12

I've been using Pinnacle Studio 12 for weeks without a problem. Suddenly, I have no sound. My sound works fine in every other program on my PC so it isn't a speaker/sound card/driver issue.

If I click Preview on a piece of Pinnacle's own music, that works fine. If I try to preview a song on my pc or insert that song/a video with music into Pinnacle, there's no sound.

The sound comes out fine when I make the movie and play it in another program, but doesn't work at all in the preview.

    Any ideas? Thank you.

You a Vista user?  If so, check the Windows Sound Mixer volume setting -- Vista now sets volume per-program, not "overall" like XP does/did.

    Check out this FAQ

    (And welcome to the webboard!)

Thank you, I have XP. That FAQ seems to be exactly what I was looking for but nothing in it helped.

I found the solution. I had the ASIO4ALL audio driver on my pc which I use when I record in Cubase. Pinnacle was using this as it's audio driver. I uninstalled it and now it's all working again :)Thank you for your replies :)

Re: No sound in Pinnacle Studio 12

I have a new Medion Quad Core PC, AMD Phenom 9650, 2.30GHz.      It has 3Gb of usable RAM, & plenty of available HD.    It is running Vista SP2.       I recently installed Pinnacle Studio Plus 12 & it works fine, apart from: 1- Cannot Grab a Frame, 2- will not download to a Mini DV Video Camera, 3 - will capture sound from a CD & input from a Mic, & both appear on the time line, but will not play them back (although they are recorded on a DVD that is made from the rendered Video.)          I previously ran Studio Plus 9 & 10 on a much lower powered PC using XP Prof. with no problems.          What am I doing wrong?

    Any help gratefully received,

    David Rowlands.
