MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 is it acceptable quality

    Hi Folks, \

A quick question. I'm about to add to my camera range, a Sony VPC-WH1, which is usable underwater. They claim it's hi defination, and also that is format is MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 .

Is this an accetable format, as they mention You Tube a lot in their publicty. I want to use it as a consumer camera.

I will be using the memory card, and understand how to operate that within Liquid.

    regards

Liquid does not work with AVCHD. There are several solutions for converting from AVCHD to something Liquid can edit, including Studio as well as a couple of freeware solutions.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Dave, Yes I understand how to bring in AVCHD, but my question is AVCHD.264 an acceptable format to work with regarding quality, that is to say, is this as good a consumer tape. Thye say in their burb, "great for your Tube and Computers" I want it as a consumer camera, and from time to time, using its underwater cababilities, professionally.

It's certainly an acceptable format for consumer use. For an underwater camera, I can't really say. I've never seen any underwater video done with it. In clear water, near the surface, and with proper filters I suspect it will do a reasonable job. As you get deeper and the light dims, that's when the real test happens.
