    Chrome XE + Windows 7

    Hi to all out there

is there any news if liquid chrome xe will support the new windows 7?

Does the aja box work with chrome then on an 64 bit system and will then chrome xe also go to "nextgen"?

    thanks for any feedback!

    cheers manu

Re: Chrome XE + Windows 7

Chrome Xe does not work under a 64bit OS.  The Aja board on it's own has 64 bit drivers but Liquid doesn't use those drivers.  Nothing is impossible but I highly doubt we will see 64 bit drivers for Chrome Xe.  I hope I'm wrong.  You may or may not get Chrome Xe to work under Windows 7 32 bit but it will not be supported.  To be honest if you plan on using a 32 bit OS it is best to stick with XP.

    Thanks for your reply

But is there no chance that chrome xe will be supported under windows 7 is chrome xe then end of line now?

It would be good to get an answer soon on that problem because here in europe a lot of chrome xe user waiting on an step forward of liquid is there also an nextgen for chrome xe? and will this be supported by windows 7?

I must say adobe creative suit 4 runs so much faster on an 64 bit system that it would be not the right choice to stay on xp?

And if there will be no future support for chrome xe why pinnacle or avid don´t say it?

If there is no future support why is it not possible to get native access to the new format like xdcam HD(1920x1080) native support for ex3 files(mp4) avchd intra and all the others which are supported by cheaper editing suits?

I´m for more then 10 years now an happy editor of pinnacle/avid but what is going on since avid bought pinnacle is an nightmare!

So please it would be fair from avid/pinnacle to his customers to tell what will go on in the next month!

Windows 7 comes i tried an beta and it works great so far it has all what vista didn´t got and it can be really an step forward it is so much faster!

cheers i´m waiting on good news but i think here it is a dead end!

    thanks manu

All that can be said for sure at this point is that Win 7 WILL come and seems to work very well. Chrome as part of Liquid, will not see any major revisions. The product which is under development was mentioned 18 months ago as a prosumer application. Whether the Crome user would consider such a product an upgrade is unclear. That is all the majority of the current user base knows.

It was suggested that current Liquid users consider Avid MC as an upgrade path, and a discounted offer was made to registered Liquid owners. That offer was for a 3 month period expiring late last summer.

Videoguys might still have a valid update offer, going for Media Composer 3,54 with the AMA and the entire bundle is what I would suggest you to do.

Ok so it is like that chrome xe is end of line!?

Media composer is no alternitive not to chrome xe and not to fcp or premiere cs4!

i stick for the projects which are possible codec whise to chrome for all others i better go to fcp or adobe again media composer we tested it really but it´s not an alternitive!

    thanks manu

p.s it´s a shame to let an good product dieCrying

Note that Mediacomposer 3.5.4 is not licensed for Windows 7. if this is the way you want to go better wait a little. I have no details yet which version is going to support Windows 7, as this will involve a lot of testing.

Re: Chrome XE + Windows 7

I have not tested Chrome Xe with W7-64bit, however, I did test it with Vista-64. The AJA-driver is not a problem. Just install the one available from the AJA homepage. I used version 4 drivers and Liquid properly works with it. There are other things that do not work under W7-64 bit or Vista-64 bit, that is the old Pro-BOB has no driver and the Jog/Shutlle has no driver.
