    multi menus

I finished one project with 3 menus.  Main menu ActI menu and ActII menu.  Everything worked great.  Am trying to finish another project doing everything the same as far as I can tell and things don't work as I want them to.  the main menu comes up the play button works fine.  the ActI button takes you to the ActII menu and the Act II button takes you to the ActI menu.  I thought a simple fix would be to change the title on the buttons.  ActI to ActII and ActII to ACTI.  The newly titled ActII button still now goes to the ACTI menu as before and the new ACTI button still goes to ACTII as before.

I've been going round and round with this for days.   I've tried menus at the beginning of the time line.  menus after the return point to the main menu which is near the begining of the timeline.  Each time the same result.   I've look over and picked through the project that worked and I can't see any difference between that project which works fine and my first attempts at this one.  The only difference is the first project had 3 buttons on the main menu and 22 buttons on the second and 24 on the third.    This project has 3 buttons on the main menu and 18 on the second and 20 on the third.

Any thoughts or ideas on this would be appreciated.

    Aloha,

    DHHI

    Re: multi menus

You can try deleting the render files and letting it re-render.  If that doesn't work, try copying everything to a new timeline.

    Bike,

Thank you for your reply.    I delete the render files each time I change anything when I am having a problem like this.   I also did  put everything minus menus on a new timeline and then completely rebuild the menus again.  None of which seemed to make any difference.    My last attempt at mid day today worked!!!     With the whole project on a new time line I rebuilt the menus as before EXCEPT  this time I placed the button for the main menu in the upper left corner of the menu and the button for the third menu in the lower left.  I did this for the third menu as well.  Everything works great now.

I had been placing the buttons next to each other at the top left and top center positions on the menu.    This change of button position is the only thing that I am aware that I did differently.  Everything had tested well in preview on everytry I have run the last five days.  The out put (which is what matters of course) is where everything went wrong.   Five days to get a menu to work,  AMAZING

    Thanks Bike,

     ALOHA,

    Re: multi menus

Is the aspect ratio of this project 4:3 or 16:9? If it is 16:9, the maximum number of buttons you can have on a meu is 18. If it is 4:3, the max is 36.

    LewS,

Aspect for this project is 4:3 for this client.  The first Project DVD for this client had 24 buttons on the second menu and 25 on the third menu and everything worked fine.  Which is part of what really had me confused when 18 buttons and 20 buttons on menus was causing a problem.   I did not know about the 18 and 36 button and format restrictions.  Thank you for the info.

     Aloha

    Re: multi menus

You mentioned about the change in physical layout of the buttons on the menus for this project. Just FYI, menus work best if the buttons are arranged left to right and not in any random order physically in the menus. You might try changing the menu layout a bit and see if that helps. The DVD simulator in Liquid does not always exactly predict how a project will work once it is rendered.
