    Multiple save

Just had a brain storm..... after losing my project the other day and having to redo it all, my contribution to this thread would be the facility to save your project more than one time. Not doing it twice manually, but the software giving you the facility to nominate the location where you want the 2nd copy saved to.

So everytime you hit the save button....wallop two saves in one and safe in the knowledge that your project is safe.

    Hi Dean

What I do is to start the edit process with 'title' name then after some more editing save as 'title' name plus A then later B then C etc so that I can always go back to the last edit without losing too much. It works well I think.Smile

I do the same... incremental saves.

it has saved me many hours of hard work after many heartaches in the past!Ihave requested a separation of the auto save / load as this can cause problems also but i have not heard anything from avid indicating they may take it on board.

Hi Yorkie,  I have started to save 2 or 3 times now, i.e a1 - a2 - a3, (3 copies in various locations) but I just over write each one every time i progress a little further,  If i understand you right, you do a first save and call it for instance ' movie 1'  do a bit more then save it ' movie 1a' 'movie 1b' etc ... so do you mean if you saved 24 times your movie would be called 'movie 1x' (a total of 24 different saves).

If so, what is the difference between how i do it and how you do it..... your way to me seems to use loads more disk space

    hope that makes sense....

    Re: Multiple save

IInstead of "Saving" each Edit, Select File / "Save As". Same Project Name, but with sequential numbers for each Edit. eg; Cat 1.stx, Cat 2.stx, Cat 3.stx etc. That way, if you can't Open Cat 3.stx, hopefully you can Open  Cat 2.stx, without having to Re-do your Project..

BTW - Save all Edits to Studio's Default Folder: "My Projects". If you Save Edits to different Locations, the chances are the Grey Project Folders will become corrupted & you won't be able to Open any of them.

The safest way would be to Render each Edit to File-DV-AVI. Same File Name, but again, with sequential Numbers. EG: Cat 1.avi, Cat 2.avi, Cat 3.avi etc. Putting all of those on the Timeline, for a final Render. That way, you don't lose anything.
