We videotaped a show using 3 HD camcorders (M2V files) and 1 SD (AVI files) for backup purposes. Now that we want to use Multicam with the 3 HD tapes, we found out that the SD video tape has good footage, and we want to use it as the 4th camera in multicam.

Multicam option in Liquid does works only with one format.

First question: Is any option or any way to convert the SD tape to HD in order to use it in Liquid with multicam?

Second question: after Multicam is completed how can I save this final file in order to be burned on a BD disc on another video editor. (Liquid does not have this option)

Maybe you want to put the SD footage on an HD timeline that has the exact same properties as your HD clips.

Scale properly the clip by opening it's properties, go in the V tab and choose the proper scaling option.

Then Fuse your sequence to create a clip similar to your other HD clips.

To export for Blu-ray authoring, maybe you can fuse your HD sequence or export as. Be sure to check your BD authoring application to see the supported formats.

Liquid does a pretty good job upscaling SD to HD (assuming of course the SD is 16x9). Set the clip properties to scale both axis, and put it on an HD timeline.

There are 3 likely issues that you'll run across. The first is aliasing of sharp edged objects viewed on the diagonal. The second is noticeable square blocks across flat surfaces. And the third is more noticeable noise.

The first two can be handled by adding a guassian blur of 2 to 3 percent. No more or you'll make the image too soft. The last really requires that you denoise the video before scaling. In that case, set the properties to no scale. Put the video on the HD timeline and add a denoising filter (there are several good Virtualdub ones that run on Liquid using the VDub2RTFX bridge). Then add the 2D editor to manually scale the image to fit the frame.
