Limitations (or not?) of HFX Creator

I just unlocked Creator. Is it possible to change the text of some of the transitions? Like changing "Wedding Day" to "Wedding Singers"? If yes, HOW???

Re: Limitations (or not?) of HFX Creator

It's not possible to change certain transitions in the way you describe. The reason is "Wedding Day" is not text, it is an object that looks like text.

I hope that makes sense to you. It would be the same as asking if you can turn an elephant into a zebra.

What you can do is remove that object and replace it with your own real text. If you want to keep everything the same as far as motion, color scheme, etc then it would be a good idea to save a copy of the envelope for "Wedding Day" as well as the other parameters and use it on the new text you create.

PS I am looking in folder 18-Weddings and the file is called BAS-Wedding Text. Even though it says text, it's not text.  If you have XP, look in C:\Program Files\PInnacle\Hollywood FX for Studio\6.0\Objects\18 - Weddings and you will find Wedday Text.hfo

Re: Limitations (or not?) of HFX Creator

I'd be happy to remove the object and replace it with my own real text, but I have NO IDEA how to do that. Is it something you could walk me through? I'd use it alot if I could do it.

Let me put something together for you to follow.

I looked on the Declic site (see my sig for a link) and didn't see anything covering this situation. I will post back on this thread tomorrow.

Right-click and "Save as" to download

Remove an Object and add Your own Text

WMV file, 11MB, 6 minutes long. If it leaves any questions unanswered, let me know

Re: Limitations (or not?) of HFX Creator

Joe, I thought I posted a response to receiving your video once before, but I don't see it here. At any rate, I just watched it and it was VERY clear and VERY much appreciated! Thanks so much for doing that! I'm going to see if I can make it happen right now. That opens up all kinds of new worlds for me. Once I get this video done, I have no deadline for creating the video of the actual wedding, so I want to learn more and more and more about HFX Creator and Boris and I haven't even TRIED proDAD and Magic Bullet. Thanks again!

Hey, Joe, I'm trying to follow this on another transition and I can't get the "save envelope" button to highlight. I want to change "Class of 06" to "Class of 08" and the Text object doesn't appear to be text OR an object I can change. What am I missing? Thanks so much for your help! Oh, it is under "School days" in folder 50.

First, to answer your question, you would have to click in one of the position windows in order to get the envelope to appear and make the button active. You can then save the envelope.

However, a couple years ago I made some "Class Of 20**" and "Yearbook 20**" effects covering 2008 to 2012. They are listed under effect #166 and #167 on the Declic website.

    You can find them HERE

Just enter "class" or "yearbook" in the search box.

Re: Limitations (or not?) of HFX Creator

You are just TOO awesome. Why would I mess with changing my own when I have yours readily available? Will download them after I leave my computer long enough to go ride my horses on this beautiful day. Can you answer a Boris Graffiti question for me? I BARELY can change anything on that software but have messed with it some. I have changed font and text color on some of the preset options. I am using a changing text effect for the first time, and it shows up as white with blue border as default. I can't seem to get it to change text color, although it did change text font for me. What am I doing wrong? There are so many more options for where to change text when it is text in/text out etc. Thanks for any help you can provide and thanks so much for all your help so far.

Re: Limitations (or not?) of HFX Creator

    Nancy,

I know nothing about Boris Graffiti, sorry.

Maybe someone will read this and reply. Or............you might want to start a new thread with BG as a topic. You may have better luck that way.

I'm glad the Declic site was able to help you out.

Re: Limitations (or not?) of HFX Creator

Thanks Joe, I downloaded the transitions. A weird thing happened though ... I installed the first half, they installed fine. For the second half, starting at about 150, the transitions installed fine, have file names that show up under tool tips, insert into the video and play on preview ... BUT they have no thumbnails visible. The first half installed fine, with thumbnails. About a dozen of the second half showed an error in installation, including all the "Class of" ones, but they appear to be working fine on preview. Most installed with a message that installation went fine, but none after 150 have thumbnails. What's the deal?

Duh, never mind, just found the tutorial that tells me what to do. It helps to read instructions first.
