In the next version of Studio, please can you consider including a Hot Key and/or Icon to toggle on and off background rendering? Or at least make it a first level menu command?

Further to that, you could even include "Intelligent" background render that pauses when playing a timeline or clip in the album......

As soon as the hardware caught up sufficeintly to allow real time preview, you've added features like Boris Grafitti.

I suggest placing a button next to the "audio scrubbing" icon.

Yep, something that has been asked for several times before and surely something I'd like to see too.

Lots of free space available on the grey bar at the right (I mean) left of the scrubbing icon.

I thought that's the way it works now. When I play the timeline, or from the album, background rendering stops temporarily. Maybe it could be done better, but ...

Also, at least Studio does background rendering "sort of" automatically. My other NLE makes me manually select each item that needs rendering (transitions, overlays, etc.) one at a time to "pre-render" it.

Bob - yes, I'm wrong and you are right about the render pausing during playback.

My reasoning was that didn't happen when Boris is rendering, but that was based on jerky playback, not looking at the green bar moving. I'd forgotten how slow my laptop was.

I still feel that being able to toggle BG render easily will be a good tool, as it drags down performance during the rest of the editing operations.

Agreed ... a hot key "toggle" would be nice.
