Video Capture for Mac - Encoding Quality?

    Hi,

I'm what you can call a poweruser and used to the Dazzle on the PC (with Pinnacle Studio).  How come the Mac version directly encodes in MP4 and does not let you a choice of capturing it uncompressed?  I want to post-process some of my videos, but there is definitely too much artifacts in the resulting video (especially with fast-motion scenes) to do anthing.

    Thanks!

Re: Video Capture for Mac - Encoding Quality?

    Hi again,

While I do not have Pinnacle's reason for the lack of options in the Mac version, I do have an Idea. AFAIK Pinnacle have been geared towards more on the PC (Windows) and the Video Capture for Mac is the Dazzle's early port for Apple. This may still be in its early stage and may have further improvements over the next releases.

But that's only how I would look at it.

    Regards,
    Marc P.

Re: Video Capture for Mac - Encoding Quality?

I understand a product like the need for a product such as the PVT for no-brainer usage, but the Dazzle has always been the most verstile product of quality on Windows (I owned two in the past few years).  I was thinking the Mac version would be the same, plus the onboard MP4 hardware encoder.  But you are telling me that there is nothing to do as of bitrate or even a switch to turn off the automatic encoding, which by the way is way to compressed to get a decent output from the Dazzle to edit and way too much artifacts are showing on the finished MP4.

Is there a beta program or anything that can permit to play around with more advanced features (after all, I'm an analyst-programmer by day and geek by night ;) )

I may have to look around for one but don't hold your breath. I'm not sure if any have been any released.
