    Re: central server is unreachable

I saw that very error earlier today.

Trying again tomorrow seems to be the only recourse.

    Re: central server is unreachable

Nope, still doesn't work.  I get either that error, or the "unreachable" error.

    Either way, it "don't go"

    Re: central server is unreachable

OK, I spoke to tech service and they indicated that new server upgrade caused the problem. They thing that we may have to upgrade our software and he hopes to phone me this afternoon with instructions to do the upgrade.  With fingers crossed, maybe we will be up and running before my trip starts.

Please let me know if you get up and running.

They thing that we may have to upgrade our software...

I wonder how well that's going to play out in Pinnacle's plans, as it seems that the've been content to let the PCTV To Go system languish on an old release, with no hint of ever intending to update the software again?

    Re: central server is unreachable

I read the HAVA forums, and basically came to the conclusion that I should be able to reboot my PCTV To Go and reconnect.

I rebooted my PCTV To Go.

    I connected.

    Yes

(But then again, I'm running the most recent HAVA firmware already...)

Up to you.  Works for me, in my usage--but then again, I'm not using wireless.

    Re: central server is unreachable

Ok, I got it working as well. I did call and speak to the wonderfull Tech Support (no kidding!), and they assisted me in getting my PCTV To Go working, wirelessly.

This can be done by obtaining the following @ Hava's website.

     1) Download and install firmware fw_32.152115.rup.img from http://www.myhava.com/support_downloads_hava_archive.html or use the link below. Follow instructions below.

    2) "Merge" the Regedit CentralServerAddress.zip which you can download here: http://www.myhava.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2308 Follow Instructions below.

    3) Regedit as follows, which is discussed in the same forum thread.

Change the Following System Registry Values: Click on Start > Run > type REGEDIT > Click on OK browse to HKey_Current_User\Software\
Monsoon Multimedia\ HAVA \PC Player> FirmwareVersion and change the value from 237xxx to “152115” so that you won’t get any Firmware upgrade notification at all.

Note, I had to go to:

Click on Start > Run > type REGEDIT > Click on OK browse to HKey_Current_User\Software\
Monsoon Multimedia\ HAVAPCPlayer> FirmwareVersion and change the value from 180115 to “152115” so that you won’t get any Firmware upgrade notification at all.

I am not running the Hava software HAVA_V1.8.0.11.exe, I am running Pinnacle's Wizard/Player.

Now to install the new Mobile Client posted @ Hava. I understand that Landscape still doesn't work thou.

     Update:

This new firmware is allowing a faster streaming then the previous Pinnacle firmware was allowing (can't remember the exact Pinnavle ver. #, but it was older than 152115, and if I remember correctly didn't get much past 325 KPS). Running approx 850KPS, close to the 1Mb max (per Hava's website). :-)

Still not yet ready to load 1.80 software... oh yea, the updated Hava mobile client works well (in portrait mode) on my Touch Pro. :-))

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for contacting HAVA Support.

There were some changes done on our central servers on Sunday which needs some changes to be done at the HAVA end too. Kindly perform the following steps to rectify the issue.

    Resolution::

    · Download the Firmware 152.115 from http://www.myhava.com/downloads/fw_32.152115.rup.img

    · Rest the device after firmware upgrade of ramdisk.

    · Apply/Run the attached patch of registry fix and then configure the device for remote viewing.

    · Test Remote Connection

Kindly follow these steps to Upgrade the Firmware

    · Run PCTV Setup Wizard (Local Network Only)

    · Go to Advanced

    · Upgrade

    · Firmware

    · Specify Path, where you have downloaded the Firmware fw_32.152115.rup.img File

    · Click on Open

    · Click on Upgrade

    · Wait until the firmware is uploaded.

How to Reset HAVA to Factory Defaults:

    · Turn the HAVA On Wait for a Minute so that it will boot properly.

    · Press and Hold the Reset Button concealed within the reset hole at the back of the HAVA with a paper pin or Safety Pin.

    · Wait until all the Lights on the Front Panel of HAVA will Flash all together (takes around 6 to 7 Seconds)

    · Release the Reset Button and let the Unit Reboot. Takes around One~Two minute.

    · Once the Two Solid Lights are back Run HAVA Setup Wizard again to Reconfigure HAVA from Scratch.

How to Run the Registry Patch

    · Download the Attached File.

    · Extract the Contents to any easy location of the client PC. Say Desktop

    · Merge it to your registry by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Merge" from the menu.

    Thank you for choosing HAVA.

    Re: central server is unreachable

OK, I was able to update my Smartphone (a Samsung BlackJack II, WM6, non-touchscreen, 640x480) to the newest HAVA mobile player, and I can successfully connect to and stream video from my PCTV To Go HD Wireless over my 3G datalink.  (I don't think that I'll make a habit of doing this -- that'd rack up a lot of data transfer and kill the battery *really* quickly).  So, I can say that this does work.

    However:

I'm using the most recent Hava firmware.  The applicability to our situations of the instructions for the Hava Gold downgrade...I kinda wonder about.  The Gold is a cheaper, stripped-down model with no wireless, right?  "Our" PCTV models are closer to the Hava Wireless HD models, I think.  So...I'm not sure why we'd need to go through the downgrade to the older firmware if that's not the hardware that we have?

<edit> Both PC and Smartphone are happy.  Guess that makes ME happy, too?

    Re: central server is unreachable

hmm.. still not solved for me.. but thanks for the post!!

just running the standard software from Pinnacle. (PCTV to GO player) any clues ? should I update my server list ? (whereverr that may be located ??)

    Re: central server is unreachable

I'm noticing this:  I seem to have issues, sometimes, which are resolved after I reboot my PCTV HD To Go.  Have you restarted your PCTV HD to Go yet?   I mean -- the simple unplug/plug back in reboot, NOT a reset.

Hmmm:  Now that you've said that, using my remote client right now, I get a "<server name> is not responding.  <server name> may have been turned off or disconnected".  But using the local client, I can connect.

So, I reboot the PCTV HD To Go, and I find that I *can* connect via the remote client.

I wonder if I'm the only one seeing that sort of pattern?

    Re: central server is unreachable

Yes, I'm definitely seeing a pattern here.

Just like yesterday -- today, I find that I cannot connect remotely.  I reboot the PCTV HD To Go, and (after a couple of minutes to allow the unit to come back to life), I find that I *can* connect remotely.

    Re: central server is unreachable

    Does this help (from above)?

    2) "Merge" the Regedit CentralServerAddress.zip which you can download here: http://www.myhava.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2308 Follow Instructions below.

    Re: central server is unreachable

Nope.  Tried it on one machine, didn't try it on another, compared the registry entries, and they're already identical--and in neither case could I connect until I'd rebooted the PCTV.

I think that the registry entries in question are ONLY for the Hava Gold version of the hardware, which has older firmware, etc.  "Our" PCTVs are similar to the Hava Wireless HD hardware, which is radically different than the "Hava Gold" hardware being discussed in that thread.

    Re: central server is unreachable

The current Gold firmware is the same as the prev. (not newest) firmware for the (Hava) Wireless HD (I think, after reviewing the archived Wireless HD page).

And now there is new 1.8 firmware for the Gold.

    Re: central server is unreachable

    OK, update:

Monsoon Multimedia (the Hava guys, who originally built the PCTV To Go) has announced that they've de-comissioned one of their remote servers.

Server 66.226.77.110 used to be the "main" point-to-point server, but it doesn't exist anymore, so remote connections don't get very far if that's the only server that your PCTV To Go is looking for.

Anyone who is having repeated connection problems (e.g. "I reboot my PCTV To Go, I can connect remotely for a while, then it stops working until I reboot", etc.), check the Setup Wizard, go into "advanced", and look at the "info" sceen.  If the "P2P Server" entry says 66.226.77.110 : 1234, prepare for eventual trouble, it seems.

    Re: central server is unreachable

Hi Bittmann - you wouldn't happen to know the new server address and how to get my pctvtogo to look for it?Smile

I got remote viewing working by using the Hava software and, firmware and regedit as described above but my SKY+ box is not supported - tried the codes of the Hava forum but they don't work properly. Anyone know if there's anyway of using my pinnacle learned codes (for sky+) with the Hava (saved as a .lrn file I think).

    Thanks

Edit - to answer part of my own question! - Ifound this:

    http://www.myhava.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1556

Must try it when I get home.

    Re: central server is unreachable

I did a factory reset and loaded up the latest Hava software and firmware and everything is now working greatSmile Learning the sky+ codes is a little tedious as it's very difficult to get the pctv to go to pick up the ir signals from the remote. Also got the hava iPhone app to look forward to.
