    Killing the Original Audio Track

I'm running Pinnacle 12.1 under Vista and I've got one file, where, after locking the video track and deleting the audio, I still hear the audio even though it isn't showing in the Timeline or Text views.

I've tried replicating the problem by setting up a temporary file but that works OK (ie the audio is deleted)

I can't even crank the volume down to zero as it still plays at normal volume.

All I can think is it has something to do with some J-cuts I made in the edit??

Any ideas or suggestions greatfully appreciated - I've got the video & audio good to go but I can't alter the volumes of the tracks and I REALLY don't want to have to start again!

    Thanks

Re: Killing the Original Audio Track

If you have or had back ground rendering turn on, this might be the cause, turn it off and then delete all the aux files (Files - delete axillary files).

Re: Killing the Original Audio Track

If you "File/Delete Auxiliary Files", does the problem go away?  It shouldn't, but it'd be the first thing I'd try.

About those J-cuts -- can you be any more specific?  If there is a way to reproduce this problem, I'll bet that Pinnacle would be interested...

Re: Killing the Original Audio Track

I've tried deleting all the auxiliary files - no help

I haven't tried rendering the project to see if the audi makes it through to the final output (I'm currently still in the edit window.

As far as the J cut goes, it's more of a T cut. Imagine 3 clips with the audio from clip 2 stretched to run from the start of clip 1 to the end of clip 3

I'l try rendering it now, but it's going to take some time to see if it works!

OK, imagined -- now, in that arrangement, which clips' audio are you trying to remove?

Re: Killing the Original Audio Track

I'm actually removing the audio from clips which come way before (about 50s) the J-cut.

To be honest I only started trying to remove the audio from the earlier clips because they have a high level of background noise recorded with the video and the volume settings are having no effect in reducing the volume of the original audio track so you can hear the mp3 I added to the music track

Re: Killing the Original Audio Track

OK, clip with soundtrack that can't be muted, with an MP3 on the music track?

    Hmmm...sounds familiar.

Re: Killing the Original Audio Track

Well firstly major Kudos on your memoryGeeked (especially as you didn't contribute to that thread) - It does seem like it could be the same problem but I'm definately using the timeline view, and I've installed the latest patch from Pinnacle so I guess there's no fix ritght now.

Ah well - thanks for all your help anywayParty!!!

Re: Killing the Original Audio Track

Have you tried selecting the entire project, then copy, open a new project and paste?

    Don

Re: Killing the Original Audio Track

tried copying the whole project to a new one - no luck

also tried deleting the mp3 and the original audio track then saving as a new project. When you open it back up (after a reboot & deleting the aux files) it's really wierd because the original audio track still plays, but it isn't showing on the timeline so by rights pinnacle shouldn't be able to pull it in from the source files  Spooky!!Ick!

What does text view says? I am keeping an eye to this thread.

This is REALLY DRIVING ME CRAZY Angry  I should have stayed with version 8!

The text view (see below) shows that the Audio has been deleted from the first 5 clips, BUT I STILL HEAR IT!

Does anyone from Pinnacle ever look at these sites? - I think the time has come to FTP them the files and see if they can work out what's going on
