BSOD When trying to capture video in Studio 12

Hi I am new here and have read several threads on this topic all ready and have searched thru the forums.

I have studio Ultimate 12 installed and it is patched to 12.1 (patched it along time ago)

I have the PCI 700 capture board and am running Vista 64 bit OS and have the latest drivers for this device.

It keeps freezing and not allowing me to capture Video with bender64.sys BSOD

Removing extra ram seems to fix the problem but I could really use the extra memory any suggestions.

     Thanks in advance.

This is a new one for me.

When you removed one RAM Stick, how many were left? Is it always happening on all 6 GB of RAM and is not always happening below it?

    Thank you for posting back.

    Bookmarked.

Re: BSOD When trying to capture video in Studio 12

I have a workstation and eight slots for ram currently I have 4 used slots

    2 x 1 gig

    2 x 2 gig

It seems everything works fine except when I try to capture from the PCI capture card,  I can capture from my camera using firewire just fine.  I have to remove the two 2 gig sticks in order for it to work.

Anything more than 2 gigs and I will get the hang or BSOD right away when trying to capture from my VCR.

     Thanks

Re: BSOD When trying to capture video in Studio 12

What if you would put only 1 stick of 2 GB of Ram? Or a pair of it? How did you come up with the idea of removing the ram? Is this a recent upgrade?

Re: BSOD When trying to capture video in Studio 12

Been a while but Ive tried that too.  It seems fine when I have 1 stick of 2gig ram, it does not work with a pair of them.  Anytime I have 2 or more gigs it does not work.

I came up with the Idea of removing the ram because after I had upgraded to 6 gigs, the hang an BSODs started happening.  After that happened Ive tried all configurations available to me and it seems to fail like I have said with 2 or more gigs of ram.

    Yes recent upgrade.

Thanks for clarifying that. I'll look into this and report it to QA for reproduction.

    Hello,

found this topic and I'm in the same bad shape and in need for help.

    see http://forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/thread/290535.aspx

    After the hardware upgrade to

    - Mainboard Gigabyte EP45-DS3 Mainboard Socket775 FSB1600 ATX

    - Intel Core Duo, 3,2 Ghz

    - 8GB RAM

    - Grafikarte ASUS  X1950

    - MS Windows Vista, 64bit

    - Pinacle AV/DV2 (700-PCI)

    - Studio 12.1 and latest drivers

the video capture (Hi8-camera) crashes the program and finishes with bluescreen.

Before the hardware upgrade the PCI-Device was running fine on MS Windows XP Pro, 32 bit with 3,2GB Ram

I'm also interested in new information and solution.

    Looking forward in reading more

Are you able to get rid of the BSOD by decreasing your RAM? Just wanted to see if you have the same issue as the OP.

    Hello,

think inthecheeks is not online. Last active: 02-23-2009, 8:03inthecheeks hit the bulls eye! After I have reduced RAM to 2GB (instead of 8GB) the analog capture via 700-PCI works pretty fine! No failure after one hour of start capture - stop capture.

Again: OS Windows Vista business 64bit, 8GB RAM

Re: BSOD When trying to capture video in Studio 12

Are you all running on the latest patch?

I bet this is happening because Studio is a 32 bit program only.

By the way, is the PCI card installed on the slot closest to the processor?

Re: BSOD When trying to capture video in Studio 12

yes - latest patch installed and slot next to processor (I have tried both slots). I'm not sure about the 32 bit. Due to list

    http://pinnaclede.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/pinnaclede.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=15698&p_created=1177691053

hardware device and program are compatible with vista 64 bit.

.... As we said the program is running fine with 2GB and vista 64 bit...

Thank you for confirming this, I'll bring this up with QA and see if we can get some answers about it.

Awesome to see its not me, thanks for checking it out.  Its still the only aspect of Pinnacle that does not work for me right now.

Good thing I am not using the capture card that often.

I would have tried this out in a heartbeat, but I could only get up to 6gigs of ram and thats 12 512mb sticks from 6 lab machines. Unfortunately I don't have a motherboard that had that many memory slots. Confused

Re: BSOD When trying to capture video in Studio 12

    Hello all.

Today I had a last talk to Pinnacle support and I'm really discouraged all the way. In a few words I was told my PC-configuration is the reason for these errors.

Not easy to understand 2GB are working fine and 8GB causes errors. On the other hand this PC was configured for 3D projects with full use of RAM without any problems. Even memcheck-tools (memtest86_-2.11) couldn't found any mistakes.

Today I have rid of my 700-PCI and uninstalled Studio 12.1. Unfortunately I have migrated to 12.1 for solving the problem.

Perhaps one day there are better news regarding this problem.

Re: BSOD When trying to capture video in Studio 12

I'm sorry but that seems to be the best way around it for now, another option is you could capture with Windows Movie Maker and edit it over in Studio 12 instead of removing your memory.
