Capture analog video from camcorder: valid signal and rolling screen

    See specs!

I installed from an old 10.5 Studio Plus, got the Vista Installer, installed, updated to 10.8.

Studio 10 shows a bad version of the video (from an analog camcorder, Samsung VPH66 Hi8 via Pinnacle 700-USB)

However, it soon shows the "no valid insignal, check connections" (but in Swedish) and preview screen blackens out...

Double and triple checked all cables, set camcorder to wall socket instead of batteries, tested using s-video cable, etc. No success.

Trouble shooting section suggested tabbinng over to edit screen, no success. TS suggests reinstalling driver from bonus-CD: uninstalling OK, but the reinstaller gives error message. Pinnacle reinstalls automatically on autodetect when reinserting usb-contact.

So: I get, at best, a rolling screen with color going on and off, which is sucessfully captured despite the message "no valid insignal", but, sedeing that the picture quality in the camcorder viewer is nice and clear, I want better than that! :D

So: is there another way to get an updated driver for the pinnacle usb, or shall I bypass that step, and continue searching for other solutions? It can't be a problem with the cables, right? The software and pinnacle box worked just fine with WinXP and a different camcorder a year ago.
