Hi there,

I posted on this forum several weeks back in connection with some problems being experienced by a friend of mine who uses Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate. We intially believed that the problem may have been related to his system specification (slightly below the sys reqs on the Pinnacle box), however before purchasing a new PC we decided to install Studio 12 onto my PC which is of a higher specification. Specs as follows ; PIV 3.0 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, Geforce 6800 GT, 250 GB HDD (100 GB Free), bog standard DVD/RW drive.

Having importing either mini DVDs (from a Sony HandyCam) or full sized DVDs, there appears to be on the timeline, a fall out of sound and 8 frame freeze of video (not in sync) with each other. This occurs approx every 10-12 seconds. This is not caused by an issue with the source DVDs, as they play perfectly well using a stand-alone DVD player aswell as within Power DVD on my PC.

This has occurred on both of our PCs, one of which is running XP SP2, and the other SP3.  Both PCs are running fresh installations of Windows XP - installed within the last few weeks.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we could move forward with this please?

Are you using Studio 12.1 or 12.0?

Studio 12 has been a step backwards regarding Importing DVDs, particularly those recorded by cameras or standalone recorders. Have you tried a regular (unprotected) DVD or one made in Studio? If that does work, then there are a number of fixes available.

Upgrading to 12.1 includes a fix for some DVDs. In the knowledge base, there is a further patch and discussion HERE

However, for me, that hasn't fixed the issue for some of my "problem" discs. I have reverted to the S11 DVDreader.DLL by putting that into the 12 program folder and solved the problem for now.

BTW, all my testing has been with XP, so the final fix might not work in Vista (or at all on some discs!)
