Re: All you wanted to know re: S12
colour: First surprise: The installation program is virtually perfect and very fast. There is no request to uninstall previous versions. The unpleasant progress bars for each module which were not always realistic have disappeared.
This confuses me, since I read elsewhere that some people uninstall previous versions before or after installing the upgrade. Would an uninstall serve any purpose, such as freeing X MB of hard drive space? Would an uninstall of Studio 11 disable Studio 12?
I responded to the "loyal user" Studio 12 upgrade offer announced in May, but it has not yet arrived . Do precisely the same installation terms apply as in the case of a virgin installation of Studio 12?
What happens to all one's Studio 11 projects when a Studio 12 upgrade is installed? If there were custom locations for the render or image files, will Studio still find them? Do any effects or elements become inoperative?
Believe it or not, I actually give some thought to whether the upgrade version will include another green cloth! Soon I will be doing a gag remake of Jaws, and need two green cloths: one for the swimmers' foreground, the other for behind their heads and flailing arms. Getting the background shots of the Great White leaping out of the water may prove a bit more difficult. Fortunately, there are $5 inflatable substitutes that conform to my budget and volunteer kiddie cast. John Williams is not available to do the soundtrack, so other improvisations are also in order.

Re: All you wanted to know re: S12
The Link is to Declic's WebSite. I was lucky to win S12 Ultimate in the recent Pinhead Project & await S12's arrival, so haven't installed or evaluated Prog yet. Others have. Suggest you read all of the Posts re: S12.
Would an uninstall serve any purpose, such as freeing X MB of hard drive space?
S11 Prog only is approx 1.5 GB. Bonus Content DVD approx 2.5 GB.
Would an uninstall of Studio 11 disable Studio 12?
S12 doesn't have any Premium Content. If you Uninstall S11 prior to Installing S12, you can't transfer any Premium Content that you may have already purchased, via S12 Transfer Wizard.
Would an uninstall of Studio 11 disable Studio 12?
In theory - No.
What happens to all one's Studio 11 projects when a Studio 12 upgrade is installed?
In theory - nothing, since they have the same File Format. In practice either finish S11 Projects 1st or Render them to File / DV-AVI in S11, for further Edfiting in S12.
If there were custom locations for the render or image files, will Studio still find them?
In theory yes, since they are Data & not Programme Files.
Fortunately, there are $5 inflatable substitutes
Do they fit into your bath or swimming pool?

Actually thats not true. I had the Bonus DVD, HFX vol 1 & 2, and RTX vol 1 & 2 discs from Studio 11. I had trouble when did the upgrade with Studio 11 on the computer and deleted and uninstalled it. The Transfer Wizard will ask for the disks if the premium content isn't on the computer.

Re: All you wanted to know re: S12
Thanks for the reminder Joe , perhaps I should have added that. However I think that info is included in Declic's WebSite. The purpose of my Post, was to Link to Declic's Site, for a one-stop shop, for those contemplating purchasing S12 & Posted before the apparent confusion re: Transfer Wizard for some, having now installed S12. That's all.
Plenty of discussion else-where on the Forum, for those who already have S12.

Re: All you wanted to know re: S12
OK, here goes. I have been away from the forum for a while. I purchased S11, but eventually had to uninstall it because I was constantly having problems; for one thing I was told that my system was not big enough to handle VitaScene. I went back to 10.5 ultimate or titanium or whatever you wish to call it. I have many, many plug-ins for this version, Heroglyph, Adorage transitions and effects (Alley subliminally talked me into these) , Bravo effects , etc infinitum. I have been getting the 'loyal customer ' prompts for S12 but I am somewhat wary of ordering it considering the problem I had with 11. I wasn't aware of a system upgrade that was apparently needed for S11 Ultimate/Vita Scene. My question is, for you system expert types out there; looking at my equipment profile, can I realistically expect S12 to work? Please, just give me your opinion, no comebacks. I subscribe to the DeClic e-mail, and have seen some fine stuff, but really haven't found a system requirement. Also, will I still be able to use the plug-ins I have for 10.5? Thanks folks

Hi Victorc, Welcome to the forum. Looking at your Camera - Sony SR12 - Shoots in AVCHD 1920x1080 (max spec) To process 1920x1080 you need a minimum of Quad Core @ 2.66 Ghz. Your system specs tell us you have Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz (2 CPUs). It's not S12 that won't handle HD. It will. Your system specs are way under what's required. That's what you need to address, IMO.

Wow! You'll have to tell the hundreds of users here that do use S10/11 and 12 that all their editing is a complete figment of their imagination then......

Re: All you wanted to know re: S12
Hi pinshel, thanx for the feedback.
There are couple of question marks:
1. After reviewing my specs, the Pinnacle tech support guys had assured me I have sufficient resources to run S+12 for HD BD rendering (I was able to do that a few times). They suggested I simply re-install the app. - which, of course, I did.
2. I have no problem editing & burning BDs of all kinds in HD when using the pre-installed basic program that came with my laptop; I need S+12 for the transitions, FX, etc.
Also, no troubles when checking out Powerlink PowerDirector 7.
What gives?

Re: All you wanted to know re: S12
Sooo, I have ver 12 on my book shelf and I am reading about installing it today and I have a single core Intel (see my profile). Should I NOT upgrade (even though older versions are no longer supported). Isn't that a double standard? Now I am concerned about installing V12 (even though V11 is buggy). I bought V12 to do HD. Do I have to replace my computer every time Pinnacle comes out with a new version? I bought a computer for ver 11.
Thanks, Chuck

Re: All you wanted to know re: S12
Your camera isn't AVCHD is it? Reading your profile it's a regular HDV camera that uses tape.
If you bought a computer to use with Studio 11 and AVCHD then you underspecified your computer. S11 specifies 2.4 Core 2 Duo for AVCHD. Even then, to use the full resolution AVCHD mode, you should stick with S11, as S12 now has a requirement for 4 cores when editing 1920 AVCHD footage.

Re: All you wanted to know re: S12
I have a standard, tape, hi def Canon camera. I am not using AVCHD, but I purchased V12 to do blue ray since I only have standard wide screen 720x480 DVDs right now. I guess I should have read the requirements before purchasing. Ver 12 was said to be "more stable" and had fixed the volume handle issues, so I upgraded. Now it seems that I may need a new computer again. Sorry for the bad attitude but, can't they ever fix the problems in a current version without the requirement for a platform upgrade and a new software purchase?
This is getting old (if true)? Thanks for the guidance. I am not a video guru, just a guy who loves video editing.
