when I import mpg clips, is there a way to define a handle length like I can do when logging from a tape?

alternatively, can I set handles for all imported clips?

It's a good question, I don't imagine that any app can do that. Answers requested!
 

ok, I have written my own tool, using AutoIT.

If someone wants it, let me know. so far it is just a script (not compiled), and everything is just hardcoded. Dont know whether or when I will have the time to add bells and whistles.

I needed it cause I import the clips rather than capture them, and therefore I have no chance to add handles automatically.
