no output from Liquid via IEEE 1394

    Good afternoon,

I have so far used an IEEE connected JVC dv-recorder and a TV set to see my video during editing.

now I am doing my first video from material taken with the new HF10 (SP) and converted to mpg with ImageMixer 3 SE (whcih came with the camera).  Editing works fine and I can make a DVD and play it on my TV in the livingroom. all no problem. But I do not see a picture on the TV which is connected to my Liquid PC. Well, I can live with that if must, but I like to understand at least.

    The new clips are (from properties): MPG, IBP MPEG2 MP@ML 420, 9,8 Mbits/s, 16:9, 720x576  24bits/pixel

and I have tried it with timeline codec MPEG-2 MP@HL (M2V)

    as well as I MPEG-2 422P@ML (M2V)

both work fine, except for the display on the firewire connected equipment.

    any ideas?

    thank you

You cannot send HDV back over firewire during editing. You can only do that with standard DV material on a DV timeline. The only way with Liquid to do this is with the BOB which will play an SD downconvert of an HD timeline back to a TV monitor. The other option is Liquid Chrome Xe which will play back in HD to an HD monitor throught the AJA card.

    Thank you, Lew,

that helps - I need not search further. Plus, I understand I just got promoted to HD ;-)

(no, I didnt know that this material - SP - already is called HD. Learn something new every day. :-)  )
