    PCTV with 2001e issues

     Hi all,

I am having a lot of problems PCTV 4.94a and USB diversity stick.

    1) Blank & pixel screens at start-up for about 3-5 minutes and then it operate probably.  If I unplug and re-plug the diversity stick to the usb, PCTV will operate probably but the problem comes back if I close down and relaunch PCTV.

    2) After changing channel, PCTV will freezes momentary freeze consecutively for four times before it operate probably. This applies to all channels and it happen when PCTV is launched.

    3) Sometimes, PMCload.exe will lockup at start-up or during channel change.

atm I using BlazeHDTV, it fixed the connective freeze problem but starting up still an issues with blank & pixel’s screens.

I am using a roof antenna and I have checked the connection with a digital setup box and all channels has signal strength & quality great than 70%.

I have uninstalled and reinstall both PCTV & drivers many times but it didn't fix the problems. I have tried using a power usb hub but still no go. Any helps will be appreciated.

    My setup

    Dell E6400 P8400, 4gb ram, NVS160M 256mb, 160GB HD 7200rpm

    Vista 32 Business SP1

can you please have a look at the CPU usage while you're facing these issues?

Have you tried another USB port? Are you using a USB Hub? Can you try to disconnect all other USB devices and see if it gets better?

I have tried with different usb ports, remove all other usb devices and a power usb hub but it didn't fixed the problem.

The cpu usage is around 20 -30%. I found that turning off hardware acceleration seems make it better.

ok, so it might be something with the graphics card. Which one are you using exactly and which driver version?

AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: PCTV with 2001e issues

you could try a recent driver directly from NVidia.

Else I would suppode, as this is a Workstation graphics card designed for business/office applications, it might have problems using Windows Direct-X/Show/etc. stuff.

It not listed on Nvidia site. It seems this card is custom made for dell by Nvidia. I have similar problem with my desktop computer with a Nvidia 6600GT card.

I think it should be found under Quadro on the NVidia site; maybe you should contact NVidia support.

Update to 179.13 Vista 32bit - 2008-09-12 but it didn't fix the problem. It seem to me the pctv software is having problem locking on to the incoming data stream at start-up?

AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: AW: PCTV with 2001e issues

if the device is not working with the NVidia 6600 as well, it might be a defective stick.
