Making a Movie - Double Layer discs

Anybody with projects with Double Layer Discs using Studio 12; I would like to know your experiences, specially if you got problems and how they were resolved.

    Thank you for any comments.

I have not used DL DVDs on 12. Have you encountered any problems yourself?

Re: Making a Movie - Double Layer discs

    Hi Marc:

Yes, I had some troubles playing back DL DVDs created with my Studio 12 Ultimate. I always create Disc content and then burn, but the created double layer disc does not play on all DVD players. Creating the same projects on SL DVD's,  no problems at all.

My work around is from the copy created with Studio, I made copies using my duplicator and these copies play back with no problems.

Any idea why this happens only with DL discs.

    Thank you

Re: Making a Movie - Double Layer discs

I'm having trouble getting Studio 12 to to write a 3+ hour project to DVD+R DL.  It's only wriitng 4.25Gs even though the settings are set for 8.5G DVD DL.  Even when writing to an image file on the hard drive the it wrtes only 4.25G.  Any ideas.  All the settings in Make Movie are for DVD DL 8.5G and the drives recognize the media and can handle the media.

Have you tried burning the DL ISO that was created in Studio 12 and burn them from another burner, say, Nero?

I tried that option already. Somebody in this forum in another post gave me that idea, but Nero does not complete the burning and stops showing errors.

Have you tried applying the beta patch found here?

    Hi.

You might find your issue lies with the Book type of the disc being created.
In most cases when you burn a DVD it is created with a book tpye called DVD+R or DVD+RW or normal. Basically a PC friendly format. Some DVD players have problems reading these discs and hence stop playing a DL disc when it reaches the layer transition.

In past versions of Studio I used a 3rd party disc burner such as DVD Dycrpyter, DVD Shrink or Nero to burn the actual image to disc. These bits of software (amongst others) allow you to set the book type to DVD-ROM which is a DVD player friendly format. You might find that the DL discs will play with this book tpye set.

However, I am now finding with Pinnacle 12 that the Video_ts folders or ISO images are no longer compatible with any software I normally burn discs with.

I have not tried the Patch.

I just tried a different brand Ridata in this case and it worked ok.

Are you refering to burning with Dual Layer DVDs? Regulars or both?
