recording mountain bike footage( vx 2100)

I have to record some footage of a person riding a mountain bike, hills jumps and all. I was wondering if I should set the shutter speed to 1/120 or leave it at 1/60. Any ideas on some settings

I would be tempted to go to 1/250. How's the light - is it in a wooded area?

Honestly I am not sure I would have to ask. If so is 1/250 the way to go?

I use 1/100 for standard shooting (Tv mode) and 1/250th for subjects where some speed is involved. If there isn't enough light, then you have to go for the slower shutter speed.

    My personal choice Smile

With the VX2100 (which is what I use) I would definitely go 1/250th. If that's a little dark, then just change the exposure. You shouldn't need to add any gain.

In Sept 2006, I shot some mountain biking up at Whistler BC.  Here is the link.  This was shot with a VX2100.  For some reason I thought I had my shutter speed maxed at 10,000.  Iris was opened to the max as well.  Bottom line... footage came out great.

Great work Andy. I reallly enjoyed it. Questions what settings did you use for the slow mo. I thought the best one was mix fields but it didn't come out as good as the last time I did some slow mo on footage.

Again great vid.I'll post some work when finished.

I generally use mixed fields.  I did in the Whistler video.  Sometimes I may even use progressive.
